Summary: Hi, I purchased the Netgear Push2TV and it didn't work because the didn't have the newer firmware, but the unit current firmware is so old that didn't allow to update. I spend 3 hours in a brainless Netgear support call, then weeks later, I was shipped a new unit, still with the old firmware and still does NOT work, and unable to update, spend 4 hours in an another scripted useless support call, there is nothing they can do, as they cannot know what the warehouse ships...
Summary: If you are really interested in this. FORGET IT! When it works, it is great, but I just spent 7 days working with Netgear support. They are idiots. Their fix is "return the defective unit". IT ISN'T THE HARDWARE. It's the software. Everyday I was told to do the same fixes. Down to reloading the Intel WIDI software (which doesn't work if you are using an HP, you need to go to HP's site and get the correct software. I told them repeatedly.
Summary: I previously owned a Netgear Push to TV product which was a gem,,I loved it. Unfortunately laptop got dropped and the USB piece got broken, for which Netgear does not offer a replacement(disappointing). Moving ahead, I found this offer for a "newer"(we'll discuss later) model of the same product that didn't even need a USB piece(too good to be true) ! Now it gets even better !! The price was $38 and change and the vendor even shipped FREE !
Summary: I can't complain about the price. I bought two, one to play with at home, and one for our conference room at the office. First, ignore the driver update information in the box, it (and the Netgear site) are terribly outdated. Netgear's WiDi drivers are 1.x.x and Intel is currently up to 3.5.x as I write this. Just go straight to Intel and update your drivers there.
Summary: The true native resolution capability of this adapter is maxed at 1366x768. It is not capable of uncompressed 1080p video (thought it can upscale to this to fit a 1080p screen, you're not seeing that real resolution - it's compressed 720p video). A bit disappointed to find this out after throwing away the packaging so I can't return it now.
Summary: Brought a brand new Asus ultrabook, love the ultrabook. Brought this device to share screen. You can see the device in the Widi app but when you try and connect it says this device is not compatible with Windows 8. No where does it say that this device will not work with Windows 8 on Amazon. Very disappointing, now need to pay to return item.
Summary: Pros: For the price, this thing is great. It is affordable, small, and reliable. It also works as advertised... just turn it on and run the app. No setup, no hassle. It is really quite amazing. I use it to watch movies from my computer (Hulu, Netflix, etc.) and it works great! the audio is in sync, the picture quality is decent (42" 720p tv) and works amazing for this. I also use this to share a word doc or other collaborative activity that requires multiple people.
