Summary: This little device has a LOT of issues. Remote control sometimes works, sometimes it doesn't. Very sensitive to wifi signal strength changes. It takes a LONG time to load Netflix content. Decent size, decent price. I got Roku 3 instead, BIG DIFFERENCE.
Summary: I have had the Neotv router for about a year now and I have constant problems with it not being able to obtain my ip address. I know it's not my internet connection because I can get right on my computer and watch netflix or hulu from there no problem. It'll work for a day or two, and then it won't work for another day or two. It's totally unreliable, and you can't do the automatic or even the manual setup to get it to connect.
Summary: Although this device was easy to install, the operation was crap. Netflix took forever to load. After the app loaded, the menus took forever loading. When I used the down arrow on the remote to scroll down the unit rebooted. I tried 3 times before giving up. And finally, the remote control is awful. To get it to work, you have to aim it perfectly at the unit. Most remote all you have to do is point in the general direction, but not this one.
Netgear lied to me about updating firmware for Windows 8
17 March 2013
Summary: I bought this as a Christmas gift specifically for WiDi capability. I was disappointed that WiDi would not work with my Windows 8 computer so I contacted Netgear tech support. I was told, in writing, that the necessary firmware update would be released in January of 2013--so I decided to keep the device. January came and went without an update. I contacted Netgear again and was told that the firmware was on the way. It is now March and there has been no update.
Summary: Bought this for my wife for her birthday/ Christmas and did not open til like a month later when I hooked it up it took forever to connect to wifi but finelly got it done netfilx works great but is the only thing that work no other apps work once so ever sent it back to company because it was past the 30 days for amazon to take care of it and have nothing but trouble out of this company they have sent 2 replacements and still same issues no apps work bout to chuck in...
Summary: Let me preface this review with the following: when I had Windows 7, this product was amazing. It allowed me to stream the contents from my computer in full 1080p HD, and with 5.1 channel audio. It did exactly what it said it would, and it also had useful apps (like Netflix). It was amazing. Then, thinking that Netgear, being a MAJOR electronics company, would be ready for Windows 8, I upgraded my laptop.
Netgear has not done update to Windows 8 - for 2 months already
Mike O, Amazon
2 January 2013
Summary: Wi-Di - sounds good. Got new laptop specifically to try it. Windows 8. Netgear device has not been updated to work with Windows 8 yet. Contacted them by email, and I THINK they said they don't know when, the reply was from someone where English is not the first language. Device does work great with Netflix and my harmony remote, so I will keep using it, but I already had a Wii for that, so hopefully Netgear will update it someday.
Summary: Atleast once a week you have to unplug and plug it back in before it will turn on. Quite often it will freeze up and you can't do anything. you then have to unplug it and plug it back in. I would not recommend it to anyone.
