"This product is extremely limited and very misleading."

Pros: NETFLIX & YOUTUBE.. BUYER BEWARE, THIS PRODUCT DOESN'T STREAM ANY LIVE AMERICAN WEB TV. IT STREAMS MEXICAN, CHINESE, ARABIC, LIVE TV & NEWS, BUT NOTHING AMERICAN. TECH SUPPORT BASICALLY TOLD ME TO GET OVER IT.
Cons: VERY LIMITED NEWS STATIONS THAT ARE OUTDATED & RANDOM CHANNELS YOU HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THAT SUCK- ANYWAY- WHICH ARE OUTDATED SIGNIFICANTLY WITH NO NEW RELEASES. SOME APPS DON'T EVEN WORK AT ALL. POKER GAME FREEZES UP EVERY TIME I BEGIN TO PLAY.
Summary: You can't do anything with this unit, nothing at all...you can't even watch You Tube videos on it (they keep claiming I can but it's not happening.) It took me hours to even get the thing working in the first place because it wasn't downloading an initial update correctly and after becoming increasingly frustrated, I downloaded the update on my computer to a USB flash drive and then uploaded it directly into the system.
Summary: The NetGear NTV550 is practically useless. The majority of advertised features either do not work at all, or do not function reliably. Support from NetGear is virtually non-existant - this is an end of life product they stopped developing several months ago. The latest firmware update was made available sometime in July, I believe, (3.2.27 for North America) with no further ROM upgrades to address known problems inherent with the device.
Summary: even after calling Netgear and explaining that I wanted a device to watch recorded TV from my computer on my TV and was told this product would work the best, I had several phone calls and e-mail sessions with their tech support for them to finally tell me it will not support the file types I wish to play, even after converting my videos from .wtv to dvr-ms. so a waste of money in my opinion. and it took so long to come up with my answer that it is too late to return it.
Summary: I purchased the product primarily to use as a media center for my video collection. After several setup attempts with the network, I finally decided to just copy the videos to a portable drive and connect it to the device. It would find the video and play it for about 30 seconds then lock up. According to Netgear's customer support, that was a common problem with no known fix date.
Summary: The neoTV 550 seemed like a good product but after one use it refused to work when I turned it on again. Well, these things sometimes happen to the best of products, so I am not complaining about that. What was an exhausting and frustrating experience was dealing with their customer service. They included a data CD in the package which was supposed to contain the manual. So I opened it and it said that the manual was "coming soon." There was really nothing on the CD.
