Summary: If your media is on your USB drives this player is amazing. It plays everything and loads fast even if you have tons and tons of files. I love that you can associate the CD or DVD art with the files and that it can display 30 images at once. Scrolling is fast in the event there are 1000s of files and seeing images is way better than just reading the titles.
Summary: I've read some of the reviews here and I"m surprised by some of the negative responses, poor software, doesn't read all formats, slow connection. I've owned a neotv 550 for 3 years and not once has it not performed to my expectations in fact, it's exceeded them. I thought i would buy the latest iteration NeoTV Max, cheaper and less performance.
Summary: My Netgear has been such a nice addition to my equipment. It'll play any file type I throw at it. I have the HDMI connected to my TV and a couple of large portable hard drives. The unit allows me to browse through the files on my drives and watch whatever I want to. Very cool tech.
Summary: Works great for watching movies stored on USB hard drives. My movies are in ISO format, and I'm able to watch them with no problems. I'm not interested in streaming media, so for me this all I need. Just connect to TV with HDMI cable and you're ready to watch a movie or view pictures.
Could have more functionality, still great for DVD and Blu-ray ISO and hi-def audio, i.e. hi-rez flac

Summary: Too bad they discontinued it and there's no real alternative. The looks is not the coolest. It's better than Logitech Squeezebox Touch, WD Live Hub and the Boxee. There is no Cinavia, which is also great. Get it while you can, for the the price it is a real bargain.
Summary: There are a flood of these devices on the market right now, and it can be hard to choose what to pick for your home entertainment center. I tried this along with a Micca and a Dune HD1 for comparison, and while this player was fast and could handle most of my media, it fell short due to some issues with compatibility, power settings, interface, and general usability. First things first, the power settings are a bit confusing. There are three states: on, off, and sleep.
Summary: I gave a review of the Boxee Box which I like along with this box which I bought quite a while ago. This box has no netflix, and no real online apps to speak of at all. But if you want a cheap box to play all video formats from a NAS drive this will do just that. I even had an MKV file with audio that was not synced at all with the video. This box allows you yo advance or delay audio by up to 2 seconds. Just a good box for watching your collection.
Summary: You can't do anything with this unit, nothing at all...you can't even watch You Tube videos on it (they keep claiming I can but it's not happening.) It took me hours to even get the thing working in the first place because it wasn't downloading an initial update correctly and after becoming increasingly frustrated, I downloaded the update on my computer to a USB flash drive and then uploaded it directly into the system.
Summary: Excellent ratio price/quality. Works very silently. Plays many formats. I advise. Remarkable decision. The disk can be taken away. I have many devices of this company. Everything is simple at height!
