Cheap gimmick sold for exorbitant price
13 March 2013
Summary: I bought this "used" for $10, which was waste of money, so I feel really bad for anyone who paid full-retail price. Pros: All necessary parts were included with batteries. Cons: (besides the people who sell it) It takes around 30 seconds to start. The online service that the device wants to connect to for updates (on first start) has clearly been disabled for some time now. Navigating is sluggish, so searching for Youtube videos or anything else is not convenient.
Summary: 1 compare to the western digital this is very cheap and not worth 10 dollars let alone the 150 original price tag one only utube actually streams any video and only short clips every other streaming video site either returns an error that the video is incompatible or is not around i have a wide variety of media files mainly iso images from dvds one video clip i played would actually pixlited but when i played it on the western digital it played fine i give the company...
Summary: That's what I get for not reading all the reviews before ordering. No instructions, no availability of propriety usb wireless connector making the whole thing worthless to me. I have learned a lesson about these kinds of purchases... thanks for nothing.
Summary: What they do not tell you about this item is that Netgear has it listed as discontinued. If you want to use it to stream TV from a wireless router, you'll need Netgear "wireless USB adapter for Digital Entertainer Live" (also a discontinued item) which Amazon does not sell. After endless hours of searching for one, I was able to obtain one from E-bay for three times the cost of the Netgear entertainer live unit.
Summary: This media player is awful! PROS - None REGULAR - Connects to internet - Built like all media players. Not bad but not good either. CONS - Subtitles are displayed in a black box, and a lot of caracters are not supported. They also display with a lot of delay. The said box has a delay when loading. - The unit responds really slow - You cannot create playlists, nor play your files in sequence.
Summary: UPDATE 12/9/2010: After using this device wirelessly for over six months, I am tired of dealing with it's inability to work with my Netgear router. I am frequently told on screen, "Your broadband Internet connection is down" when in fact I have several devices connected to the Internet working perfectly. The only way to get my EVA2000 on the network is the restart the entire network, i.e.
Summary: Let me start by saying that this box is cheaply made, the software on it is seriously a joke. My 32 year old ATARI console has better software and graphics than this joke box, not to mention that it doesn't support alot of Video formats including RMVB and others so to me it's worth nothing. NETGEAR states that this box is HD capable and that's another joke. I can see a better picture out of my 30 year old VCR than this Joke Box!!
Summary: I REALLY wanted to love this item. I use Netflix, HULU, and have a lot of personal media on a network server. I eagerly awaited the products arrival. I also planned to re-do my whole network / media access around this product. I have an "electronics closet" about 25 feet away from my HDTV. I use 25' runs of HDMI from this closet, under the floor, to the TV.
Summary: This is a step in the right direction, but still ranks as a failure. The Hulu support is done via PlayOn which will cost you and extra $40 and bring the total price to $190. For a little bit more money you can just go get a net-top with an atom 330 and nvidia ion platform and have a lot more capabilities and better 1080P playback.
