Summary: Set up was easy enough. Pictures and some videos work fine. The DMA 2200 only works with Windows Media Center, so watching internet tv is very limited. If your apps. don't integrate with WMC, (Hulu is one exammple.) Then the app. won't work with the DMA 2200. I wish I would have known this. I didn't find that fact in any of the product descriptions. If I could return it for a full refund, I would. No wonder there are so many of these on eBay!
Summary: I purchased this because I was tired of spending money to buy HTPCs for every TV. I purchased this for my 3 year old and I was REALLY shocked when I learned that I could not use the DVD Library from my Vista machines. That was the whole point. The dvd player is slower to load than a standard dvd player, wireless is a nice feature but is is not the best for streaming, menus are slow, blah, blah, blah. Until Linksys can get DVD Library functionality I would not recommend.
Summary: I have always been a big fan of Linksys products and I was eagerly awaiting the release of the Linksys DMA 2200. Setup out of the box was pretty easy but when I started using the product I noticed a slew of little issues that, together, make this product not worth the investment. Below is a list of the issues I've experienced: 1) DVD playback freezes/skips slightly every once in a while. This is just infrequent enough to where you might be willing to live with it.
Summary: I bought the DMA 2200 to extend my Dell XPS 420 media system pc (2.6gHz-6600 quad core, nvidia 8800 GTX, 4G ram, dual raid 0 500Ghz drives); I am connecting via the Ethernet port via an old but working Linksys router. Yes the remote is light (could use a few extra programmable buttons (like the 4 colored ones at the bottom (they are useless))), the MS media Center interface is slow, but it does reproduce movies and video reasonable well.
Summary: Are you kidding me? For the price of this thing you can purchase another xbox 360, which of course does way more. Get realistic on the price and we'll see, I own the previous gen of linksys media center extenders, and if they are anything to go by, using this will not be a joy at all.
Cons: Price... you can buy an xbox 360 instead Can only connect to Vista (not XP MCE)
