Summary: I purchased this item 6 months ago and when I first tried setting it up I couldn't even get it to connect to my wifi because there wasn't an option to type caps so I ended up using LAN port. On boot up there was an update that removed Amazon Prime which is one of the reasons I got it (fast forward to today and updated latest firmware and still no Amazon Prime).
Summary: This product worked GREAT for 2-3 months, then it started to freeze up--just a little at first, then it got to where it doesn't work at all. I called your customer support and I did everything suggested, still broken. I'm really surprised, I have always had the very best experience with LG products, I recommend them to my friends. Is there anything you can do for me? I'm a single mom with limited funds.
Summary: For $30 you can't go wrong I said. Then the device did a firmware update and Amazon Instant video was gone. That pissed me off. Why does it show Amazon on the box, that is bs and fraud. Also it will not see iso files.
Summary: 1. This player does not play all types of files. 2. Poor WIFI Range. 3. It needs an update sooner than later. 4. All I can say is it's small and looks clean. 5. Good looking and easy to navigate menu.
Summary: Was excited to try the product despite mixed reviews on Amazon. I was unable to connect to my wireless network from the device. This is the only device I've ever owned that was unable to connect in my house. My cheapo smartphone (samsung), ipod touch, HP PC, 4 yo macbook are all able to connect no problem from the room that I was using the TV upgrader from. Unless you plan on using the device in the same room as the router I would not buy this product.
Summary: I got this box for $25 at Fry's as a cheaper Roku alternative. The device couldn't find my Wifi access point or any of the neighboring ones that my PC can detect easily. I had to use an Ethernet switch to hook the box's Ethernet port up to my wireless gaming adapter. The gaming adapter keeps up with Youtube streaming. The specs make the box seem like it is a competitor to the Roku XS. However, it doesn't really do too much. I moved it from a 1080P TV to a 720P TV.
Cons: 1) WiFi sensitivity is so low that it is useless. 2) It can be connected to network by wire and other network devices(PCs running W7) can be logged on from this device(SP520) BUT the shared folders cannot be opened and an error message is returned. I called the vendor(LG) twice and got two different suggestions but none worked. I searched the Internet and found I am not the only one who has this problem.
Summary: 1. The player does not play all types of files. 2. Extremely slow, it takes 20 seconds to browse files. 3. Poor wifi. 4. LG never provides updates to its firmware, not only this product, I also have LG TV that they mentioned they discontinued and not supporting any more. Please go with a different product.
No device should be this terrible at performance yet have good specs

Summary: OMG, Where do I start? I'm a good-natured techie so I'll give the good before the bad. The unit is small and solidly built. The unit supports HDMI and digital audio out, but does not come with an HDMI or digital audio cables. The LED on the front panel is great. It is an "old school" LED meaning it will not light up an entire city block and keep the masses awake if the unit has not been turned off. In other words, it simply a low-brightness LED.
