Do not buy this product
13 June 2013
Summary: Having had the machine less than 6 months it has stopped working. It is not recognised by the TV or PC. I have been advised by the support team to send it back to them, at my cost, and it will take 2-3 weeks to repair. Having now read reviews of similar issues I also would not buy another Lacie product.
Summary: When folk used to say something you pretty much knew what you were getting. I'm sure at one point LaCie sold stuff they were sure of but then everybody else started selling hard drives. So then some bright spark looking for a raise probably suggested thinking out of the box. And that must be the general mind set at LaCie ever since- out of their boxes.

Summary: [[ASIN:B00360QNT8 LaCie LaCinema Classic HD HDMI USB 2.0 2TB Hard Disk] Basically do not buy it. Screen froze, computer now cannot register/recognise this product. Waste of money and time. Lost everything and should of looked at more reviews.
Summary: Within the first week of using this machine i knew i had made a mistake due to its finnicky and edgy performance and un-user-friendly set up. This was confirmed when the machine refused to set up a reliable ethernet network and constantly affected my internet connection. Then it began fastforwarding and freezing on it's own which it has continued to do.
Summary: This drive failed on me after 11 months of not heavy usage. Internet searches for a solution seem to confirm the unreliability of LaCie products and this latest catastrophe brings my total of failed LaCie external drives to 3 in the last 5 years. I shall not be buying anything more from them!
Summary: Like other reviewers, I have had constant problems in getting this device to work properly. I generally know what I am doing, and the instructions are quite straightforward. The problem is the device itself. It is not, in my view, fit for purpose, and is liable to crashing, freezing and not being recognised. When it works, which is rarely, it is a good product so gets one star for that - but otherwise is not worth anything like £150.
Summary: Probably like most people, I bought this unit to back up a whole heap of work data, video material and other stuff to clear out my PC. Having half filled what was supposed to be the available space, it crashed......several times.....and despite disconnecting, waiting the prescribed ten minutes and reconnecting which initially worked, it appears to have now died completely....so nine months worth of work has completely disappeared.
Summary: This hard drive was rubbish as soon as it got above 1T of use it froze up & became completely un responsive, I spent the best part of 2 weeks emailing LaCie back & forth trying to fix this problem & in the end sent it back to Amazon, who were great & gave me a complete refund. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone!!! Also I will never get a LaCie product again.
Summary: Just bought this La Cinema based only on the good reviews and taking the chance of being lucky and not getting issues reported here. Bad luck. I have different .AVI files on my external HDs and some are playing and some of them La Cinema gives me the message the file is not supported. I tried a few solutions and it just doesn't work. I have now a very expensive external hard drive with me.
Summary: I so wanted to like the Lacie Lacinema 2TB media player. It looks good, it plays most of my video formats, and its got 2 terabytes of space to store them on. Result, I thought. I don't have an HD TV - so the Lacinema menus on the TV screen looked very hazy, almost unreadable - but I was still pleased with it. And then three weeks into my nice new purchase, the play function randomly stopped working properly.
