Summary: Pros Lots of memory Cons Glitchy USB connections Slow booting Slow response Remote navigation is tricky & unintuitive Remote sometimes unresponsive This is a partial list, mind you. I no longer use this product.
Summary: It started working ok when connected to the TV. IT doesn't read subtitles in sync, so I had to convert my videos and embed the subtitles. I bought the wi-fi antenna and started sending files over the network. One day, it stopped working. It seems it got stuck in the middle of the transfer and it caused the internal operating system to get corrupt! After that it worked as an external HDD, but not as a multimedia one.
Summary: When I received this device, I was interested in its potential, and unfortunately, the reality of what it delivered was so underwhelming that I completely forgot to write a review for it. I remember thinking at the time that I would wait for it to be updated to overcome some of its shortcomings, so I wouldn't have to give it a poor review. That day never came, as the device never lived up to its potential.
Summary: español: verdaderamente una porqueria como media player, tarda horas en encender, es lento, y lo peor de todo es q casi no lee ningun archivo, una lastima y un desperdicio de dinero, ahora solo le dare el uso de un disco duro. alejense de este producto.
Summary: Although this seems to play most formats it completely fails to play a DVD folder - the format most of my videos are - so I am ripping out the hard drive and putting the case unit to pasture and buying an XTreamer. The price I paid is close to that of a 2 GB Hard Drive so I am not totally disappointed. Just does not work for me as a media player. Also when you plug it in to a mac it is not recognized.
Summary: First off I've got to say I think the design of this unit is awesome, the guys at Iomega got design right, several USB ports, several output options, 1TB storage etc. Unfortunately this is where it ends. Only plays about 2/3 of what I throw at it, looks like firmware updates are few and far between which is the only way to update codecs, locks-up, when copyingfiles from portable HD via USB, if you change your TV input from the ScreenPlayer to TV while files are copying...
Summary: Avoid this product! One of the products I sincerely regret buying. The specs sound very impressive and this would be a very good product if it worked as advertised. Slow to boot up, flaky WiFi network connection even after buying the expensive Iomega network adapter for this product. The remote matches the rest of the product and it takes 2-3 clicks to register an action even with new batteries and being less than 6 ft from the unit.
Summary: I purchased this to watch movies thorough my Epson projector EX70. Also I wanted to replace my external HDD drive. However, I had to deal with disappointments. It basically doesn't support multi-language subtitles which is one of the most important things for me. So I returned it. Other than that, the device was not bad. But it has very short cable, so you may need to buy one if you want to connect your TV, Monitor, PC, or anything else.
Summary: The hard drive is very easy freezing when using fast forward/review function. Then it needs to be reboot. Most of the time I can't turn it off by remote control or by the on/off button on the media player. I have to unplug the AC. It is very bad player.
Summary: The concept seems perfect: large external storage combined with an HD media player. Unfortunately, it does not work that well. First and foremost (for me), it is limited to Windows -- Mac users, beware. This thing will NOT work with files that you rip on a Mac. It is formatted at the factory for Windows machines, and the Mac won't recognize the hard drive. Second, it has a strange partition built into it for some reason.
