Summary: Applied for the rebate and took 10% discount with a promise the rebate would be mailed to me within 8-10 days. It has been sitting on their website for weeks and found out today it may be mailed out July 3rd. That's a month after the date that they received the application.
Summary: If the player didn't break on me, I would have given it a higher rating. After about 6 months, it stopped turning on. I tried unplugging unplugging the power, using the reset button, etc... and none of it worked.
Pros: Plays a lot of video formats Network playback was good 1080p videos played great
Summary: Bought this thing in January. You would think that it would work ok by now!
Pros: Works, but don't change anything on your network when it does!!!
Cons: Worked when I had an XP machine on my network. Now I don't (win7) and now I have to jump through hoops to get it working again. I'm tired of messing with it. Just connect to my share and show a movie! Please! I've gone through the updates and I get a little hope, but it just won't work nicely. Ha...
Summary: Unless you feel like being a part of Asus's QA team, avoid this device at all costs.
Pros: Will play FLAC and VOB files...when it's working.
Cons: I'm using version 1.17P of the firmware; however, this thing is still incredibly buggy: First, I keep loosing sound. Also, it seems to reset to a low resolution whenever I restart. Aside from being buggy, this thing is just a pain to use. For example, to watch a movie you have to make the followi...
Summary: Go with something like a WDTV Live or Xtreamer if you want a quality product with actual support from the company. Now I am stuck with a $100 paperweight since Newegg wants to charge me with a %15 restocking fee to get a refund on the piece of junk!
Pros: This started out as a good player, yes it plays everyone of the video/audio formats I have tried, WHEN it works.
Cons: After the first couple of times using this player, Everytime I would turn it back on it would default to 480P? It would stay on this until I unplugged/replugged the unit. Now I have audio dropouts, 1080p issues, and not being able to stream files over the network, and now the USB port does not wo...
Summary: I thought i had solved my media streaming problems!!!!!! The lack of in depth instructions, make this product a poor buy. I still havn't got it to work for me. I'm trying to use it in conjuction with the powerline network extenders b y the same company. I gave up and sent them back.
Summary: Does not network well with Windows7 64bit. After trawling the internet trying to resolve this issue, I gave up. there was no way I was using the registry hacks that are found via google to try resolve this problem as that was opening a major security issue on my wireless network.
Summary: I bought this so that I could stream .mkv (and similar) files from computer to widescreen tv. The playback was very poor, what would be in stunning hd on my monitor became a low res pixelated image on screen. MP4 files were the only ones which would play properly at high res.
Summary: I hoped this would be so much more. But unfortunately not. All media players at this price seem to be a bit glitchy so take your pick. Obviously I can only speak from my experiences. Pros; -A step up from my old £20 usb ported dvd/xvid player -erm.... -Price Cons; -Clunky interface.
