air play not to my expectations

Excerpt: hate the back and forth action of the menu interface... air play has a huge lag on audio and very jittery with video and some times it disconnects on its own. if buying consider this... no audio control whatsoever... thought it wouldn't be big issue...
Cons: Difficult to Navigate, Freezes or Crashes, Not Enough Audio Tools
Excerpt: Let me start by saying whatever you buy, buy it from B&H great service and competetive pricing. I am streaming all TV in my house and have a Smart Blu ray player that supports NetFlix and a few other channels and I have Roku so this Apple TV3 is my third streaming device, Pix and Sound great, setup easy, overall I am underwelmed as the Roku offers so many more free channels.
Excerpt: I am still a fan of the original Apple TV - the one with the internal hard drive. That unit would store your content and allow you to play it back with no internet connection. Great for taking on vaca etc. Thuis unit only works when you have internet access. I would recommend the Western Digital Live Hub as an alternative since it has all of the same feature plus a 1TB internal hard drive.
Excerpt: Ho-Hum. It does the same things the Wi-Fi enabled Blu-Ray player sitting next to it does. (Except connecting to Apple's overpriced movie rental service!) It is easy to set up and use. If you don't have a similar device, then it is possibly worth it. Many Wi-Fi ready disc players do what Apple TV does, and you get a disc player thrown in, so check those out first. Basically, it works, it puts out HD if the content supports it, and it doesn't take up much real estate.
Pros: Attractive Design, Fast Setup, Simple Controls
Excerpt: Apple TV performs well within the perimeters of its design. It is easy to set up and configure. It is very user friendly. In the future, though, I hope it allows for the purchase of apps and other movie players...like VUDU so Ultraviolet movies can be played without using Apple Play...a nice addition, but boxy. Though it mirrors the iPad, it doesn't allow for full screen play of other movie players.
Excerpt: Bought this mainly to watch videos from a MBP on my TV instead of using a 30 foot cable. AirPlay works, but gets jumpy and sometimes freezes for several seconds. Netflix is excellent with a layout that's more intuitive than their website.
Excerpt: Pros: With the exception of an iPad & iPod, my house is Windows. Got this to wirelessly stream iTunes content (mostly music, some video). Wireless setup (Dlink DIR-825, 802.11n, 5Ghz) was pretty seamless. Works as advertised. No surprise, you can buy/rent movies. Has screensaver when playing music. The remote is solid metal and feels good in the hand. Cons: Yes, it does connect to Netflix, youtube, & hulu...but so does my TV and BlueRay.
