Summary: Do not buy this offer. The product is great but is available from all Apple stores for $99. This must be the only Black Friday deal which is twice as expensive as on any other day of the year. Ban this merchant!
Summary: The Apple TV seems to be just a vehicle for selling content. They should give them away. You can get much more control, freedom, and content by connecting a laptop via HDMI cable to your TV. I have a Yamaha receiver connected to my home network via a network bridge. It seems much easier to connect to the network and is far easier to use with the excellent and FREE Yamaha AV Controller app for my android phone.
Summary: Like everything Apple makes, this device is lovely and elegant and intuitive to use. If you're content buying things from the iTunes store and streaming videos from its short list of approved partners, you will probably adore this device. I despised it. And I will tell you why. The problem is that if you'd like to do ANYTHING else, no matter how standard it might be on similar devices, you are out of luck. Want to watch that Blu-Ray you ripped into Xvid/avi? Nope.
Summary: If you want to be able to watch movies and TV programs off the internet on your TV set you have two options. The first is that you can buy an Apple device and get iTunes content. That'll work if you live in a country that Apple acknowledges. Except that you won't be able to do very much with the content, like play it on some other media player software (one that allows you to copy your DVDs as well, for example) or copy it to another device to watch outside your home, or...
Summary: I recently purchase an Apple TV, and I must say I am horribly disappointed by the experience. This product absolutely does not live up to Apple standards. This feedback has been prompted by an increasingly frustrating series of experiences with my Apple TV. First, I was quite surprised to learn that I can not rent a movie on my computer and then stream it to my Apple TV. I must rent it on my Apple TV or on my Mac. This is just silly..
Summary: Loved apple products since Apple II, this doesn't belong to such a distinguished family. Even I have a fast connection it took hours to download, and you never get a warning that if you press menu it will start downloading all over again, it simply freezes and you are done. I cannot understand why you cant have in memory the movie you are renting for the time allowed. Forget if you want to see something comfortable during the weekend. Too much trouble.
Summary: I own a iPhone,my wife owns an iPhone, we have a Mac, an iPad and until recently an apple tv. The trouble with it is it simply doesn't register with the afore mentioned line up. It's as if it was designed by another company and sold by apple. The thing is clunky, looses connection, and if you wish too mirror, you'll wish you hadn't. Games lag, web pages lag, and the channel inventory is second to all. The only saving grace was apples WONDERFUL customer service.
Summary: You say you game, watch Netflix, and surf the web all at the same time? Your connection still won't be fast enough to load a movie in less than an hour. AirPlay is extremely finicky, sometimes works and a lot of the time doesn't. Not sure why. Everything on this works differently as well. I can listen to music from my library in the background while wading through other menus, but not podcasts. For podcasts you must not dare press a button or playback stops. Umm, okay...
