Great when it connects
7 May 2012
Summary: It's a great looking box, like all Apple products. The features fill my needs exactly. But, it is terrible at maintaining a connection to my wireless network. Of course there's the option of moving it closer to my router, or worst case, hardwiring it. But, I had a Playstation3 filling the role of streaming Netflix that was located in exactly the same place and it rarely dropped the connection, maybe once every few weeks and it would come right back.
Pros: Stream iTunes library and Netflix to home entertainment center. Love the small, discreet design. Easy set-up.
Cons: Fails to stay connected to my wireless network for more than 10 minutes and restarting takes several minutes of clicking through menus. Incredibly annoying and almost unusable for the purpose I purchased it.
Summary: I was excited to get an apple TV so that I wouldn't have to use the PS3 to watch netflix. I was annoyed by the PS3 because of how annoying it is to enter characters using the controller. The Apple TV allows users to use an iphone/ipod/ipad to control the device. This is definitely a plus over the PS3. If you are getting this to watch Netflix, however, (as I did) you will be disappointed. Streaming from netflix to the Apple TV is terrible.
Summary: Returned. This New Apple TV does not like NetFlix! It constantly pauses to load video and audio it really becomes irritating. Fortunately, I also have the Panasonic Blue Ray DVD Player with Netflix streaming and performs much better with little or no pauses, wired or wireless.
Netflix Streaming Problems and No Amazon Video On Demand

Summary: As other reviews have stated the Apple TV was very easy to install. If you have a password protected wireless network, you have to be patient while you key in the 26 character password using the Apple TV remote. My configuration uses a Roadrunner Internet connection that runs between 6 and 9 Mbps during evening hours. We typically have two streams running, one for Netflix on the Apple TV and another for Netflix on a laptop.
Summary: First off I should say I am a big fan of Apple and I have owned and used a great number of Apple products over the years. This is why I feel so bad about sending this Apple TV unit back. It just isn't ready for prime time yet. It works great with iTunes and other Apple equipment but if you're interested in streaming Netflicks movies and tv shows you would be much better off with a Roku player.
Excerpt: Fallos: 1. 4. Sin conexión a internet no funciona.
Summary: Grundsätzlich ist Apple TV eine feine Sache. Was mich an Apple TV 1 gestört hat, behebt Apple TV 2: Echter Standby, minimaler Stromverbrauch, diskret klein.
