I have quite a few DVDs (about 800 at last count) and I've been looking for an easier way to manage them. I purchased a large HD and I ripped the DVD using handbrake (free). Half of them were ripped using H.264 and the rest were regular .MP4 files. The apple TV prefers the H.264, but it played the MP4s just fine. I was able to load all of the movies on the HD and reference them in itunes (by unchecking the copy to itunes box in preferences) so that they loaded onto the... Read more

for a 160G HD with wireless, it's a steal. as long as you don't mind it being apple centric, it's wonderful. I bought the appletv because I have a MacBook Pro, which i love, and wanted an easy way to listen to my playlists and watch music videos on my HD plasma TV. I also have an airport extreme wireless N router, which works flawlessly with my macbook and appletv. Pros: Applecentric: content on apple laptops are synced immediately without any fuss with the appletv.... Read more or see product

If you buy it for what it is, then you'll be happy. If your trying to turn it into the next super media recorder, ummmm, build a open source media PC. The WIFI issue went away after a few seconds of runtime, and It has not come back in over 4 days. Since I plan on hard wiring this system to the router anyways, I don't really care about the WIFI. Overall this is a great product. Also user available hard disk space is only around 140GB. Read more

I have been sitting on the fence to buy not to buy-- the reviews that had been coming out when this product debut was not impressive. Since they Apple has fixed the bugs and its now possible to enjoy this addition to your HDTV. Simple to use once you get past setting up the wifi network which for me required calling a 3rd Party to set up after wards the simple plug and play Apple has known for. New products always lag behind on 3rd party applications to JAZZ up the APPLE... Read more
