Summary: The game Spore arrived in a timely manner. Ordering was easy too. I just cannot as yet properly comment on the game itself because of a "glitch" with contacting EA's licensing server, so I have not even been able to open the game at all. I have been in constant contact with EA and it is a known issue. I can only wait until they come up with a fix. With the game being out for over three years I expected any bugs to have been exterminated by now.
Summary: So you've been wading through all the "OMG DRM!!!" reviews in the hopes of finding a review that can help you decide whether to purchase the game. I'll try and help you out here. (DRM means 'Digital rights management', which is a form of copy protection.) First off, as you have read, this game has SecurROM DRM. Before you decide to give up a game over DRM, be aware that all the major games have it.

Summary: we bought spore for our grandson who plays computer games constantly. we wanted something a little less mindless and maybe not more engaging, because he's already over engaged with the point and smash games, but something that might catch his imagination and develop problem solving and projection thinking. he loves spore and the other games have fallen behind. we are pleased, to say the least.
Summary: If it's the new way for EA to treat their customers, I'll simply stop buying their products ! I'm a 60 years old grand father with grand children and I don't intend to buy a new game each time the kids start a new game or change their name or settings in the game ! I'm not a pirate, I pay for my games ! I also take good care of my computer and I really DON'T NEED EA TO INVADE MY PC EITHER !
Summary: First of all i'd like to say this is a great game. Pretty much the first of it's kind, although it was preceded by the sims series, i have had alot of fun spending hours playing with my zebears (zebra-bears) on my 2.2 intel core2duo macbook (gma x3100 graphics with 1g ram) and the Role playing factor in this game is just amazing. Some of the stages get a bit repetitive, but the space stage is simply incredible. But, this game is almost ruined by the anti-piracy.
Unfinished/could have been so much better, too small & short, no replayability If they try make Spore 2 they have a lot to learn

Summary: Other reviewers have already written how bad the gameplay in the various stages is. I played on Hard difficulty and I did have a little bit of a challenge at the beginning of the tribal and civilization stages. But once you bribe all the other tribes, and once you figure out which cities the dominant civilization is going to attack you take over your continent you've pretty much won. It's not really that hard.
Summary: This peace of sh** crashed my system, and get this, the only way I could get it to work was a full re-install of windows and than installing the cracked version I downloaded (I read on a forum that it would work). this thing is nothing but a $50 peace of worthless sh** that isn't even worth the disk it is pressed on. STAY AWAY. EA... You better not put this DRM sh** on Sims 3 or i will not bother buying it I will just skip right to my other solution and download it.
Summary: The DRM software that gets secretly installed on your computer and has complete access to ALL you computer's systems including the internet is going too far. I do have any priated games, I have bought all my games.(All of the Sims 2). But as a comsumer this is too much. I will boycott EA until they change the DRM they use.
Summary: Spore is a shadow of what it could be. The game play has been dumbed down and it is now boring and retitive. The only fun part is the creature creation but the design of a creature does not seems to really impact it's success or failure. Add to this a DRM fiasco that only let you install the game 5 times! Save your money and don't buy this game!
