New (2011) high spec imac review vs sony viao laptop c.2008
25 June 2008
Summary: I am new to Macs, having decided to trade-up following an iphone and ipad purchase. I was cautious about buying a mac as I wasn't sure about game-play, even though I only play about 2 or 3 games, Civ IV being one. I have to say that i'm disappointed.
Summary: I just thought I'd just add my 2 cents worth in case people have been put off by the technical problems others have experienced. I'm running the game on Mac OS X version 10.5.5 and haven't suffered any major issues that would cause problems with game play.
Summary: I bought CIV4 for Mac as it is an amazing game! I have played all previous games but not this one yet. The video chip set required I think is more than I have on my MacBook so I am a little in the dark as to how to solve this?? How do you get a new video chip set? Thanks
Summary: After reading several bad reviews for Civ IV i thought i should write my own. So okay, i run the game on my old iMac G5 and i have no problems, sure it's a little slow at times but when you have an old machine you have to expect that.
Summary: I bought this for the PC when it came out and spent many weeks playing, and when I bought my iMac I decided to buy it again. An excellent port. However, do go to the Aspyr website and install the patch before playing. I would recommend adding the Warlords expansion pack.
Summary: It may or may not work on your system but that doesn't really matter, because it is the worst civilisation game ever made. It is unbelievably easy. I think it has been designed for 6 year olds.
Summary: I liked CivII and when i bought a mac looked around for a sure fire game that woud play on the mac - this was it. It does have some technical problems though - on my iMac it works fine - but on my macbook (not as powerful but above the specs required) it has problems after a few hours of gameplay.
Summary: When I was buying this game I was not sure how that will work. I have G4 powerbook 1.67GHz with 128MB Graphic card and 512MB DDR2 RAM... Yes I was running demo before I bought it, but demo is just demo, and demo runs faster than full game.
