A fantastic port of a great game.

Summary: Battlefield 1942 runs very well on my Macbook Pro. I haven't had any issues thus far. Even at the highest settings it runs smoothly. I haven't applied any patches or updates to it for the main game. While the game is indeed clunky in some aspects of gameplay it isn't all that bad. The AI could be improved upon but given the age of the game you will have to make do.
Summary: In general Battlefield 1942 is great game! However this Mac version has problems with lag. Even though this is a fairly old game and my Mac has good specs (Mac OS X 10.5.7 and 2.4GHz core2duo processor and 4GB of memory). My advice: play this game on a Windows PC and not on a Mac.
Summary: When I originally bought this game for my PC, it was awesome, smooth and nice graphics, all you could want for a huge online multiplayer game. That was a couple of years ago now. Since I have now recently purchased a Mac G4 PowerBook 1.67Ghz with a gig or ram and 128 mb graphics card, I thought that due to the age of this game that my new mac would have bags of power and capability to handle it smoothly with fairly nice graphics. How wrong i was.....
Summary: Battlefield 1942 may not appear to be the most technically advanced game on the market at first glance, but it soon proves to be one of the most addictive and playable. Every vehicle is usable from cars to tanks, planes to aircraft carriers, and all stationed guns can be manned also. It plays really well and allows you to get really stuck into a really good battle. Multiplayer battles are most excellent.
Summary: It depends on what you want from a WW2 game as to whether you get this. If you are interested in the war and want to fight the battles as they were fought 60 years ago DO NOT BUY THIS GAME! According to Battlefield 1942, the Battle for Arnhem was fought by the Americans, which it wasn't. Being a proud Brit, playing this game is painful. The single player mode is repetative and not exactly stimulating.
