Excerpt: I just moved from an autofocus to a rangefinder (Leica ME) and was looking for an affordable 50 mm. This is the one. It is well made and easy to work with. But as with all 50 mm you gotta get the focus right on, as the depth of field wide open is minimal. A 35 mm is much more forgiving in that regard. I bought a 3 party UV filter to protect the lens and also the Zeiss lens cap. Contrary to what some may say they work well together.
Excerpt: I bought this and the 35mm f/2.8 for my Leica M2 and they both ROCK! Very nice construction. Smooth movements and great image quality. I love the 1/3 stops. Makes sense, don't it? I am not sure why I waited in buying these.
Excerpt: After several years of my Leica kit consisting of a fabulous f1.4 35mm and an old terrific f2.8 90mm, I found myself craving a traditional normal 50. Used Leicas are still very expensive, so I researched Voightlander and Zeiss. Finally decided on the Zeiss f2. I am delighted with the lens. It's sharp from corner to corner. Great bokah. Haven't seen any flare. Focus is a bit stiff but very accurate on my M9. It's become my go to lens for walking around with out a kit.
Pros: Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Nice Bokeh, Rugged, Strong Construction
Excerpt: I bought this lens as the prime for a Sony Nex -6 after exhaustive research (web reviews, camera shops and even a trade show). The combo is a gift for our daughter for her High School graduation. She is an absolute shutterbug and is thrilled with the lens and camera. I have had a chance to use it a fair amount and have major camera/lens envy. I will get this set up for myself soon.
Excerpt: Use this lens on a Sony NEX-7 with outstanding results. Built like a tank, silky-smooth bokeh, sharp as a tack. I've owned 3 Zeiss lenses and they consistently produce the images I find most appealing.
Excerpt: I bought this lens to use with my Leica M3. Initially I was going to purchase the 50/f2 Summicron from Leica, but decided to save some money and go with this lens which was rumored to have similar optical quality. I use the M3 for street photography and I find this lens fits perfectly for that type of image taking. I'm still getting familiar with the camera/lens but have so far been happy with the results.
