Fantastic performer

  • Excerpt: I had this one in ZE (Canon) mount and after the switch to Nikon I bought it again. Let me say this ... I've tried almost every 50mm prime in F mount and that includes all Nikkors and Sigma Art series. With its maximum aperture of f/2, it's definitely slower compared to rest of competition but it is unbeatable when comes to color rendering and micro contrast. No post processing required. Did I mention that it is stupid sharp right at F/2?
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Nice Bokeh, Strong Construction

Outstanding

  • Excerpt: I use it to take product shots in a studio environment. The manual focus is awesome. Turns out my eyes aren't as bad as I thought they were. I have taken macro shots with my Nikon D800 of wristwatches with minuscule hands, then enlarged and cropped the images, only to find microscopic textures in the paint on the hands. I didn't know there was any paint on the hands. Truly amazing sharpness and a must-have for anyone wanting a lens to pair with a high megapixel camera.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable

Great quality

  • Excerpt: Paired with my Nikon D800 this lens is wonderful. I used to prefer autofocus lenses but this is the one I reach for now unless I absolutely need my auto focus lens. It's simple enough to use and totally compatible with the FX functions on the D800. There are cheaper ones, but this is the best I've ever used.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight

The most usable lens I ever had

Francs, B&H Photo

  • Excerpt: This lens lives on my D800, i rarely use anything else. I travel with my beloved Nikkor 28-300, and this Zeiss beauty on the body, It takes some time to get use to the manual focus, but when you get a hold, it becomes so natural. Not a good lens to catch motion, for that I have a super fast Nikkor 50 1.2, and a 24-70. The bokeh is buttery and smooth, and macro results are outstanding.

Great lens

  • Excerpt: I have had the Zeiss 100 and the 21 going on two years. These two lens are without peer!! I added the 50MP a year ago to cover the middle range. It took some time to get used to manual focus (again). I have learned to get confirmation in the view finder that the subject is in focus - and to use the "preview button" when shooting wide open as this lens is subject to focus shift. Otherwise the beauty of the Zeiss lenses, this one included, are superb!
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Nice Bokeh, Rugged, Strong Construction
