Arguably one of the most beautiful lenses ever created

DugFinn, Amazon
29 January 2015
  • Summary: This lens WILL ruin all other lenses for you. Just be forewarned. After using this lens, all my other lens seem inferior and I have trouble going back to them. I have never used a more sharp and beautiful lens in my life. The clarity, contrast, and colors are superb.

Beautiful!

  • Excerpt: Beautiful images, Zeiss quality build. I use this lens on a Canon 6d with the Eg-S focusing screen which is most helpful and highly recommended for best results. Get a filter (I use B&W) so you never have to worry about cleaning the lens-it's way back there.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Nice Bokeh, Rugged, Strong Construction

sharp, solid, heavy, dreamy bokeh

  • Excerpt: I was torned between this lens and the 50L from canon. I MADE THE GOOD choice. This lens has a 25cm close focus distance and thus makes a thinner DOF for many subjects compared to the 50L. It is THE best all purpose lens I own.

My precious

Matt, B&H Photo
15 November 2013
  • Excerpt: My favorite lens to date. To say the thing is built like a tank is an understatement. It is half the size of my Canon 24-105mm f/4, and probably about double the weight. Solid metal all around. As far as image quality goes, the thing is superb.
  • Pros: Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Execellent Image Quality, Nice Bokeh, Rugged, Strong Construction
  • Cons: Heavy

Awesome!

  • Excerpt: This lens is super sharp. Sharper than the Canon 50 1.2. The focus ring is kinda stiff and it is heavy. Thus the 4 star. If you're looking for sharp lens and you don't mind the manual focus and the weight, this one is for you.
  • Pros: Durable, Nice Bokeh, Rugged, Strong Construction
  • Cons: Heavy

Legendary Zeiss lens

Sean Russell, Amazon
15 July 2013
  • Summary: There's not a lot to dislike about this lens. As long as you forgive the manual focus it's a beautiful piece of kit. It's feels solid. The focus ring turns smoothly with the right amount of travel and feel. And, of course, it takes amazing photos with the legendary Zeiss micro contrast.

Good Colors

Colorseeker, B&H Photo
9 July 2013
  • Excerpt: The best thing about this lens is the colors. Skin tones and blues are really good. Focus on a 5dII with precision screen has 50% keeper rate. Thats why you see so many pictures of flowers/trees and very less of people all over the websites.
  • Pros: Strong Construction
