An excellent super wide lens and a bargain at the price.

  • Summary: I spent a long time looking for good wide lenses at an affordable price. I first saw the nikon 13mm f5.6 and was shocked at it's $39,000 price tag. Yes, that's right, $39,000. Then I found this lens and read every review I could about it and decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did. This baby rocks. It is absolutely sharp from corner to corner and hardly warps the image. The color and contrast are great also. I am very pleased with this lens.

MINDBLOWING STOPPED DOWN + EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE FOR THE PRICE

  • Summary: The reviews on this are that it is a little soft wide open but other apertures are excellent. My copy is a little worse. It's very soft (almost cloudy) at f2.8 & f4, then barely acceptable at f5.6 but flat out breathtaking at f/8. I probably have a bad copy but then again I didn't buy this one for its wide open performance! Another problem with this lens has complex 'mustache' distortion so it is hard to correct.

Great F/2.8 wide angle lens for the price. Saved $1K over the Canon L lens.

  • Summary: Extremely impressed with the picture quality of the Vivitar 13mm F/2.8 lens. The lens is well built with minor barrel distortion (to be expected with a 13mm lens). I am very pleased with the overall picture quality as an Indie Filmmaker. The purchase saved me at least $1,000 over the Canon L Lens. The only negative is: one cannot add a filter on the front glass due to the shape. This is a great investment overall and I would highly recommend!!!
