Quality lens for shallow pockets.

  • Summary: Excellent lens for the money. I especially like the ring feature that changes manual to auto focus. Good photo quality and not too wide as in fisheye.

It's a great product

  • Summary: Awesome lens. The quality is amazing in okay to great lighting. Colors really shine and it's awesome for those huge landscape pictures. In low light, the lens is not so great, but still manageable. If you need low light capability, cough up some more money and get the tokina 11-16!

Excellent wide angle lens for Canon

Lyzak, Amazon
13 January 2012
  • Summary: This is a great wide angle lens that I used to use on my Canon 30D, now on a 7D. It has held up to a few years of rough use, so I couldn't be happier. Only issue I have is when using the integrated flash and hood (you get a shadow along the bottom of the image). This is to be expected though.

  • Summary: A good lens. The value for the purchase. Even though it is less wide than the sigma, tamron, but the quality is different. Value for this lens. SLR Camera and also can be used with it.

Sharp Lens

daa_wiz, Ebay
3 November 2010
  • Summary: The lens is very sharp, the only drawbacks are 1) It is only for APS-C crop sensor cameras, it shows vignetting on full frame cameras, and 2) There is no image stabilization. Pretty fast wide angle lens, but also pretty pricey.

lens quality

  • Summary: This Tokina lens is well made. It isn't the best 12-24mm lens out there, however. The focus isn't as sharp nor the colors as accurate as from my Canon lens. It is a fair value, however. As is generally true, you get what you pay for.

  • Summary: A relatively light lens with a good zoom range. Instead of getting a wide-angle, on the long end you are getting a high enough zoom around normal perspective that you can still use at home for family photos. Compared with several other lenses.
  • Pros: Own several Sigma lenses. Their plastic bodies tended to be a bit cheap., Tested it at the store. Looks surprisingly sharp., Compared to the closest 11-16 F2.8 you lose 1 stop on your aperture but otherwise you get a bigger range with 12-24 F4. The other wide-angle lens is a fish-eye which is for...
  • Cons: Not a lot. Tokina used to make lenses with metal until a few years ago before switching to all plastic. The old lenses although heavier can take a lot more abuse (if you happen to drop the lens for any reason a plastic lens is less likely to survive)., It must be because of the recession. The pro...

  • Summary: This is a very sharp lens. It compares well with the Nikkor version. There are some important considerations, however. Sharpness is good corner to corner stopping down to f5.6 or more. I can use this on my F100 from ~16-24mm on with little vignetting at F8 on.
  • Pros: Build quality is excellent. I had the opportunity to handle the Nikon version and was impressed with the focus on it, but other than being a bit more noisy, focusing is nearly as fast on either of my cameras. Just more noise., Color rendition is as good as any lens I've ever owned, and I've owned...
  • Cons: Flare and ghosting are the weaknesses on this lens. If you are shooting into strong light situations, expect ghosting. From just off the frame, expect sunlight to flare into the frame, this is visible in the viewfinder. CA is not well controlled, but can be corrected in Photoshop if you shoot raw...
