Tokina 12-24mm f/4 AT-X 124 AF PRO DX SD review by DaveInAZ

Summary: Like most Tokina lenses, this is an awesome lens for the money. It's only real weakness is a very moderate amount of CA, which is almost unavoidable with UWA lenses. As the official review says, stopping down clears up the softness at the long end, and the short end is amazing. It's a little loud and a little slow compared to some lenses, but who cares? It's a landscape lens; speed is not an issue.
Summary: No joke, I ran over this thing during a busy film day with my Chevy 3500. Felt a "bump" while backing up, and was immediatly horiffied to become aware that my camera bag was not in the truck with me. I hopped out, and sure enough, ran over the bag with the lens inside. Glass seemed to be everywhere, but upon picking up the lens, it was from a UV filter mounted upon it. The hood was also shattered, and the focus ring was bent.

Summary: I used this lens on a Canon 500D/T1i body. The build quality of this lens is that of a TANK! Feels solid, but feels like it outweighs an entry-level body. I adjusted to it, and never had a problem with it. The zoom range is the most useful, unlike the Tamron 11-18mm or Tokina 11-16mm (if you don't need the fast aperture). The image quality was also good enough for me, but I think it could be a bit sharper, never really complained about it.
Summary: Awesome lens. The quality is amazing in okay to great lighting. Colors really shine and it's awesome for those huge landscape pictures. In low light, the lens is not so great, but still manageable. If you need low light capability, cough up some more money and get the tokina 11-16!
