Summary: Needed a wide angle for my Nikon D90 and did a lot of research before buying. It was a lot of money to me and wanted to be sure I was choosing the right lense. Could have gone wider but decided not to. Use it for interior real estate photos and it is a dream. No fishbowl effect and plenty of wide for any home. And the quality of the lense is excellent. Also bought a new polorizer for view shots and am very pleased with both. A good investment.
Summary: I was highly disappointed that such a high caliber glass was shipped with no lens hood or lens cap for that matter. to pay so much for this and not receive a lens cap with the shipment was almost unacceptable
Summary: I love to use this lens, in tight quarters it gives you room enough to fit a whole bunch of people into the frame. Also I took a series of photos inside a cathedral, and they are crystal clear and sharp: I thought the amount of light inside the church might not be enough, but thanks to this lens and the correct in-camera settings gave be bright lovely photos, and with minor adjustments in post, they were really PERFECT.
Summary: Owned lens for about a week, here are my initial thoughts: When shopping it was between this lens, Canon 10-22, Tokina 11-16 2.8, and the Sigma 10-20 f4-5.6. I really don't think I could have gone wrong with any of them, and it really comes down to price. I use a canon 60d, so cropped sensor. 12mm is plenty wide for interior shots and in tight spaces, and the 24 on the long end is pretty much distortion free/useable for portraits.
Tokina AT-XAF124DXN 12-24mm Wide-Angle Lens for Nikon
6 December 2013
Summary: On a Nikon D7000. This lens is amazing. Built solid so it has some weight to it. Focuses fast as any Nikon I have tried seems to be spot on but at 12mm not much out of focus. Nice range to it a lot of fun to use though I tend to have it pushed to 12mm most of the time. The quality of the photos is very good. I am not a pixel counter though. I take photos to hang on my walls to enjoy and when someone comes over and likes one I give it to them frame and all.
Summary: I was in the market for a good wide angle lens and did quite a bit of research. From what I read, this lens was comparable to the very similar Nikon lens that sells for about three times the price. Got it and it's fantastic. We took a trip to Disneyland earlier this year and I brought several lenses with me, but this is the one that stayed on the camera the entire time.
Tokina AF 12-24mm f/4 AT-X 124 Pro DX II Lens - Nikon Mount - Nice lens
26 October 2013
Summary: Tokina AF 12-24mm f/4 AT-X 124 Pro DX II Lens - Nikon Mount I am using this lens for about a year and very satisfied with it. Pictures are very sharp and usually do not require much work with them. Lens is not very fast, as it is f/4, but for landscape and city photographers it is great. Price will not kill your budget too. I got many compliments about my photos since I bought this lens, but I feel it lens who should be getting them.
Summary: I don't use this often, but it's one of those "When you need it, you really need it," lenses. I have not noticed any issues at all. I'm not a pro but do need to shoot photos for an advertising agency that often find their way into magazines, billboards, etc. We use this to shoot rooms in homes built by a client. I'm very pleased.
