Great Lens / Great Price

RA, Adorama
30 April 2013
  • Excerpt: This was the first macro lens that I have purchased. I spent a lot of time reading reviews and looking over many lenses before I decided to purchase this one. I could not be happier with my purchase.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Nice Bokeh, Price, Strong Construction
  • Cons: Lens Creep, Slow Focus

SP AF60mm f/2 DI II LD

DelRio, B&H Photo
22 June 2012
  • Excerpt: I have been using this lens for macro and general photo projects for about a year on a D90. Because of it's speed and IQ it excels in both regards. I have found the continuously available manual focus can function to speed the auto focus process. Just manually set approximate focus.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Easily Interchangeable, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh

  • Excerpt: takes very sharp macro shots. focuses to infinity but is best as macro. i used it in gym at f2 for the poor lighting. worked well but auto focus not made for fast action. i dropped this lens from less than 2 feet on gravel road and it broke (would not focus)thankfuly it was within 30 days and i was...

Very sharp but no focus limiter

16 January 2012
  • Excerpt: Nice lens-- slightly heavy-feeling with good build quality. Doesn't balance as nicely as a lighter lens on my D5000. Only serious downside is lack of focus limiter-- if it has to hunt it can take a while. Focus is not very loud.
  • Pros: Fast / accurate auto-focus, Nice Bokeh
  • Cons: Heavy

Great Portrait Lens

Uncle Earl, B&H Photo
4 January 2012
  • Excerpt: Looking for a fast portrait lens? Tamron has done well with this one. Very sharp wide open with just a bit of decentering that softens the image near one edge of the frame. Macro performance is equally satisfying. Nice and lightweight but solid construction.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Good wide open, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh
  • Cons: Very slight edge softness

Great lens for the price!

2 January 2012
  • Excerpt: I bought this lens to get better shots of the jewelry I sell on the world wide web. I had looked at the pricier Nikon lens of the same strength, but the price put me off. I bought it on sale during a promotion Tamron put on this Holiday season so the lens cost me $225 less than the Nikon.
  • Pros: Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Lightweight, Strong Construction

Sharp Lens

Adorama
19 October 2011
  • Excerpt: This lens works perfectly on my Sony a700, producing very sharp images all the way down to 1: 1 ratio. It is the equivalent to a 90mm f2 on a full frame 35mm camera. Something that is imposible to find at this price. Also quite usful as a portrait lens.

Great lens, just short of spectacular!

Jacob, B&H Photo
8 August 2011
  • Excerpt: Great optically, very sharp low distortion. Very light. The only 2 things that hurt this lens are no image stabilization and mediocre auto focus performance. The lens will hunt for focus for quite a while before locking the focus.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh
  • Cons: Slow Focus
