Summary: I picked up this lens new from Amazon on 11/30/13. did not have much time at that time of year to shoot birds in the greater cleveland area because of the servere winter we experienced. Now I'm out with it and can only say that it is far worse than a bridge camera, at least the Panasonic FZ40 and the Panny FZ200 with the add on 1.7 tele extender. (I have both and have used both for birding) I shoot a lot of Egrets, they are white, they become serverely ghosted.
Summary: Tamron has just about the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. They want to charge $225 dollars to clean a lens which they claim is causing the issue. However, they do not want to stand behind their work and warranty the service. So basically the want to charge $225 and I have to hope they repair the lens or else I'm out of $225. I'm done with Tamron.
Excerpt: I've had this lens for about 2 years now and have used it on 3 Alphas, A100,A700 and A900. I have yet to get shot that is spot on focus even with the micro-adjust available with the A900. The color is faded and the contrast is poor from this lens. It now sits in the case where it will stay. Maybe I got a bad one.
