Excerpt: This 11-18mm lens from Tamron is pretty lightweight, with a predominantly plastic finish. The design is functional - the zoom ring at the rear has a chunky design, while the manual focus ring at the front is relatively large. Once the lens is placed on the front of a D-SLR with a 1.5x focal length multiplication, you have a lens with a 35mm equivalent of 16.5-27mm (17.6-28.8mm with a Canon D-SLR), so it hasn't got the greatest range here on test, but it's more than wide...
