Great lens Tamron does it again!!

Robert D., Newegg
27 November 2012
  • Summary: Its half the price of both Nikon and Canons own super wide lenses. Great wide angle lens for the Hobbyist or if your on a budget. If your serious about photography or make large prints, look for wide angle lenses that are offered by your camera manufacturer. Both the Tamron and Sigma have there down sides when it comes to cropping or making large prints.
  • Pros: I bought this lens last year. I've taken dozens of landscape photo's with this lens and have been very happy with the results. The online reviews really bashed this lens saying that it takes soft pictures. Well to be honest it does. But only at wider apertures like F3.5. At F8 and higher its great in the center but it does get a little soft on the sides. I mostly use this lens to take long exposures at night and in mid day. The colors come out great. Distortion at 10m...
  • Cons: No manual override. Focus ring turns as lens focuses. Lens is soft in the corners. But flare and distortion are very well controlled for a wide angle lens in this price range.

Fun lens

Mstarn, Adorama
23 April 2012
  • Excerpt: Great lens. The depth of field is more than fantastic. The lens is a great addition to any bag. Little hard to learn to use at first, but with some practice it becomes fairly simple. I use it with a NIKON D-90 with great results. It stays on my camera about half the time. Love it. Strongly recommend it.
  • Pros: Compact Design, Easy To Use, Improves Picture Quality

Great lens at a good price

Sean B., Newegg
24 February 2012
  • Summary: I love this lens. As I stated above, I like everything about this lens except for the fact that is has to Vibration Reduction for hand held shots, but most of the time I am using this lens with a tripod, which means the VR needs to be turned off anyways so I cant complain. Great Lens!!! I recommend to anyone who needs a decent wide angle without breaking the bank like th Nikon equivalent.
  • Pros: Affordable Great quality Mail in rebate Wide angle
  • Cons: No stabilization or VR, but used mostly on a tripod...

OMG depth of field

Mstarn, Adorama
12 December 2011
  • Excerpt: The depth of field on this lens is fantastic. I use it for indoor shots and special effects. Use an object a few feet or less in front of the lens and focus to infinity. No fall off on the edges. Beautiful shots. You need to have some practice with it to get consistent results. The lens is eat at all focal lengths not only 10mm. A best buy with a rebate.

Great Buy!

Rex W., Newegg
25 November 2011
  • Summary: I am glad I listened to an experienced photographer, he saved me a bunch of money by recommending this Tamron 18-270mm lens for my Nikon D5100. I returned some locally purchased lenses keeping my kit lens as a backup. I then purchased a Tamron Macro 90mm for 1:1 close ups and a Nikkor 35mm for night shots because it is 1.8 If you are thinking about a 300mm lens, save your money and just crop this 270mm image and you will get the same effect.
  • Pros: Swiss Army Knife Lens takes the place of having two or three lenses for the cost of one Nikkor lens.
  • Cons: none that I can tell

Terrific value for APS-C cameras

NightLights, Adorama
1 June 2011
  • Excerpt: Want wide on APS-C sensor? This lens is AMAZING- no problem without image stabilization, I'm getting great hand-held images in low light. With auto ISO and quick AF in the new D5100, this lens focuses plenty fast and is sharp, sharp, sharp from almost completely wide-open. Love the 10-24 range, love that this mighty-mouse weighs less than the competition. Get it - it's a steal!
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Great value, Lightweight

Does the Trick

Preacher, Adorama
15 March 2011
  • Excerpt: With my 17-35mm, this completes my close-up lenses. In fact, this may very well become the most versatile piece of glass in my bag. It captures my 6 month-old grandson perfectly!
  • Pros: Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Nice Bokeh
  • Cons: Heavy
