Excellent Lens

Steve R, B&H Photo
  • Excerpt: I've owned this lens for about a month now and absolutely love it. It takes very sharp images. Even in hand-held, low light conditions with VR enabled the images are very sharp. It's true that this lens a little bit heavy for a 24-70mm lens, but I actually like the weight.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Nice Bokeh, Solid, Strong Construction

Mixed Emotions

LF, B&H Photo
25 June 2015
  • Excerpt: For the most part the lens is good. The only issue is EVERY time I place the lens on my camera, I will get an error messeage. I have to take off the lens and put it back on several times before it starts to work with no error message. Once it does work, it works great.
  • Pros: Easily Interchangeable
  • Cons: Heavy

A keeper.

  • Excerpt: This is my walking around lens...does many things well. I shoot landscapes, crowd events, flowers, I have used mine for almost 2 years, first on a crop-sensor 60D and now on a full-frame 6D, with moderately heavy use.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Strong Construction
  • Cons: Heavy

turn off the VC

DW, B&H Photo
8 May 2015
  • Excerpt: Sharp at f2.8, nice lens. Used for a while, found the VC blurs the photos a little bit. In good light condition, turn VC off to get the best results. Turn the VC on only in low light condition, you really need it. The difference is very visible, try and see.

Excellent, while it lasted

Kai, B&H Photo
23 February 2015
  • Excerpt: I bought the lens used and used infrequently as my go-to for about a year. Image quality was great and sharp. Stabilization was effective. Best of all was the price difference between it and the comparable Canon lens.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Fast / accurate auto-focus
  • Cons: Glued Together

Fast Glass for Close Low-Light Action Shots

B L, B&H Photo
10 January 2015
  • Excerpt: I like the IS capability and 2.8 aperture—fast glass!—but dislike its zoom function that is opposite how all my Canon lenses work (serious problem when changing lenses).
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Easily Interchangeable
  • Cons: Heavy, Nikon Camera Zoom Function

So far so good

23 December 2014
  • Excerpt: I'm a hobbyist and like to shoot my kids mostly. This lens has already improved my indoor shots by simply allowing a larger aperture at the most common shooting distances. Not sure if the IS feature is working...

CLARITY for PRICE +1

Gabriel Dibble, Amazon
19 December 2014
  • Summary: Super clear. Worth every penny. Check Tamron site for current rebates ;) AF is very quiet, almost unnoticeable when listening for it. Therefore it's perfect for Video AF tracking. (Works so great with my Canon 70D dual-pixel auto-focus.

As good as the Canon 24-70!

Carolyn, B&H Photo
24 November 2014
  • Excerpt: I use this lens for everything from weddings to catalogue photography, and it stands up to the Canon 24-70 L on sharpness and overall quality. As an added bonus, this lens has image stabilization, which the Canon does not!
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Nice Bokeh, Strong Construction
  • Cons: Heavy
