  • Summary: lets talk geek for one mint. 18mm F/3.6...22mm f/3.8...26 f/4...32mm f/4.2....35mm f/4.5 so u see it changes F/stops pretty quickly by the time u get to 155mm you are F/6.3 what i wish is that it would go to F/5.6 . i shoot with a D7000 i am use to prime lens so to me it gets dim when u try to go all out at 250mm but for what it is a travel zoom it does a great job after some testing and fine tuning with AF-tune i got it set to -5 and increase the sharping to 7 it makes...

Awesome travel lens!

vashabhatari, Ebay
26 August 2011
  • Summary: I love how this lens provides me with ease of not having to change lens while traveling. This is gonna be my new bestfriend! The only problem is the lens expand when u turn it downward but there's a lock switch to prevent that from happening. Overall, best purchase I've ever made!

Cheap Superzoom

Land Cruiserman, Amazon
15 June 2011
  • Summary: This is a cheap walkaround superzoom. I bought it for vacations to put on my old D200 to take places I wouldn't want to take my nicer glass and cameras. Optics are decent, but the lens is soft towards longer focal lengths, and has an unremarkable f/3.5-6.3 range which still is in the ballpark of most lenses of this type. Image quality is similar to other superzoom kit lenses, with the only advantage of the Tamron being the impressive 250mm reach.

Good All Around Lens

Danielle, Amazon
2 May 2011
  • Summary: When I got this lens I was looking for something extremely versatile that I could use on the go so I wouldn't have to be switching out lenses constantly when I knew I'd be needing a broad range of focal lengths. After over a year of use it's held up pretty well, though it sometimes seems to struggle with auto-focus more than my other lenses. It seems to perform pretty well throughout its range, though like most, is sharpest in the mid-ranges.

A strong "do it all" lens.

poorjuice, Ebay
2 April 2011
  • Summary: If you want a "do it all" compact lens it is a great buy. I think the main benefit is the fact that it is a relatively inexpensive lens for what it can do. The convenience of not having to switch to a different lens is superb and certainly allow me to get more great photos and for nonchalant, non professional activities it works well for me and the center sharpness of the lens is superb. The down side of the lens is that it has a slow aperture.

Looks nice, fair price, but a bummer... THAT IS...

Nanookh, Amazon
24 January 2011
  • Summary: I bought this lens for two reasons, 1) to have a multi-purpose lens for when I am on vacation and 2) the extra focal length up to 250mm (Nikon's equivalent stops at 200mm). Fortunately, the lens worked more or less fine during my trip to Indonesia. I only had to unscrew/re-screw the lens from time to time because the camera (Nikon D90) would not recognize the lens. But lately the lens' auto-focus function died on me and and never came back.

Buen lente

Olga Lucia Pieros, Amazon
15 January 2011

Life is so much easier without having to switch lenses!

A. Mohmand, Amazon
9 December 2010
  • Summary: All dSLR owners I've known so far carry at least 2 lenses with them. These are usually the 18-55mm and 75-300mm zoom lenses. They spend half their time switching lenses which is not only a waste of time and effort, but also exposes the areas of the camera and lens you don't want to get dust on. After a few years of this frustration, I decided to invest in this 18-250mm lens.
