Great all purpose small light weight lens
30 June 2014
Summary: This all purpose high quality lens meets all of my requirements allowing me to take one lightweight lens on a Nikon body when traveling without the weight (and space) of several heavy lens. This was the smallest and lightest all purpose lens I could find and allows me to again take an SLR when traveling.
Excerpt: I ordered this as a starter lens for my 7D because I didn't have enough cash for the one I truly wanted. I bought it thinking i would eventually replace it with a canon 28-300mm lens as soon as I could save up the money for it. But after using this Tamron lens for a little while now, I can honestly say I'm extremely happy with my decision. I ended up renting the canon lens I originally wanted and I didn't find it much better than the tamron lens.
Pros: Compact Design, Easy To Use, Lightweight, Zoom
Excerpt: I use this lens both for shooting product photos for packages I design and for recreational picture taking. Now instead of carrying 3 camera lenses in my bag I just need this one. It's great for portraits, nature photography and for social gathering when you want to fit a large group into a single shot. I almost always use this lens on manual focus, so I can't really comment on how well the auto-focus works. It's light weight and easy to use.
Excerpt: This replaces my Canon EF-S 18-200mm. The Tamron is compact, ruggedly built. It focuses quickly and very quietly and produces good quality images with a bit of distortion at both ends. The zoom is a bit stiff after a little use, but it also stays put without a zoom lock. The gold ring is a bit cheesy for my tastes, but that is certainly no deal-breaker. This is definitely a keeper!
Excerpt: I haven't had this lens very long, but so far it's meeting my needs. I've used it at family gatherings, as well as taking action shots at hockey games. I have used Tamron lenses (and their customer service) before and have always been satisfied.
Excerpt: I have always used Nikon lens on my cameras going back to my Ftn however I wanted to get a solid zoom that would cover at least 18-200 (higher if possible) and not break the bank nor my shoulder carrrying it around. I compared Tamron, Sigma and Nikon for reviews, price, image quality and lens quality with Tamron leading the pack.<br />I've had this lens now for a little over 2 weeks and I love it.
Pros: Affordable, Compact Design, Easy To Use, Excellent color rendition, Quality product
Excerpt: My son and daughter-in-law liked my lens so much, that I ended up giving them mine, and purchased a new one. I use it a lot in my community theatre photography. I use all the tele. ranges from 18mm to 270mm with out any changing of lens. Great for nature photography also. I can not think of a better multi-use lens.
