Summary: This product works great as a doubler on my Pulsar N550 Digisight (a day/night rifle scope). It gave the scope a 9x mag instead of a 4.5 mag. That's a huge difference, particularly at night. We use it to hunt hogs in Texas...
Summary: I bought this lens to attach to a Sony HDR-CX700V. The quality of the lens is without question. The problem I have with the lens is when you put the camera in "wide angle" mode, a black circle surrounds the picture. You have to set the zoom level to approximately mid-zoom in order to make the black edges disappear. That somewhat limits the use of the lens in my opinion.
Summary: This lens works fine for what it is. On a Sony HDR-CX560 or 700, because the lens goes so wide there is no much leeway before you hit the edges of the lens, but for what it does it's okay, it makes a stronger telephoto without too much CA. Buyer beware that it magnifies camera shake, so use a sturdy tripod.
Summary: I have never used a telephoto lens and am less than an amateur photographer. It took me just a little trial and error to understand how to really maximize the use of this lens. I first tried it out on a small mountain, zooming in and getting a sense of depth for environments in the foreground vs. background. It made me feel like I knew what I was doing! Excellent and simple to use. Negatives: A found it bit heavy and difficult to store in my small carrying case.
Summary: 2.0x High Grade Telephoto Conversion Lens (37mm) (Stronger Option For Sony VCL-HG1737C) This lens is literally worthless. It produces such a horrible blue fringing that the footage can't be used. Even around objects without backlight. I do not recommend this product.
Summary: It was really usefull to compensate the loss of zooming feature of Sony Handycam HDR-XR550V. I was recently in Nepal and the accessory was essential to take mountain movies without beeing an alpinist or to film beasts without unnecessary risks in the Jungle.
Summary: If you where to ask me, is this a good product and durable I have to say the best. If you where to ask me, how often do you use it, I have to say almost never. The reason is that the video camera zoom is so good that I only use the wide angle conversion lens VCL-HGA07 ... when you want simplicity is difficult to carry everything around!!!
Summary: I would have to agree with A. D. Lum's review on this teleconversion lens. I was disappointed with the fact that it isn't that much of an enhancement. I to also expected it to be a "Wow" but was also like "Oh... OK". There was vignetting when fully zoomed out in the corner to the point where it was very noticeable on my HDR-SR12.
Summary: Nothing but Pros for this lens. I use it on my Sony SR12. I video wildlife almost every weekend during fall and winter mostly at distances of 70-120 yards. This lens lets me video without using the digital magnification at these distances reducing graininess for better clarity on the finished DVDs. Heavy construction should prevent cross threading while attaching to camcorder.
Pros: Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Sharp Focus, Strong Construction
