Excerpt: While you can use this lens as a 30mm walk-around lens, that's not its best use, as it's a bit soft, especially around the edges of an image. But as a macro lens, it's wonderful. It focuses close.
Pros: Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight
Summary: I reckon it's a case of technician failure rather than product - still learning how to fully utilise the macro lens to its fullest potential and getting some good shots. Yet focal points still a trick.
Summary: No matter what they say at sony, this lens is not performing well. If anything it is a very mediocre lens and not worth $300. Pros: well constructed and easy to carry. I like my nex 7 and I am using it often these days. Cons: does not do a good job.
Summary: As a kit, this is a pretty sweet deal. Costs as much as the lens does by itself, but comes with a few extra goodies. Mine was missing the advertised 16GB SD card, hence the 3-star review, but even taking that into account, you can't go wrong with this kit if you were planning on getting this lens...
Summary: I purchased the Macro 30mm f3.5 from Amazon too. The picture quality is on par with the kit zoom lens and 16mm pancake. Nothing better or worse as far as clarity. My sample did take a second or two to focus and I didnt like that it was that slow and returned it.
Summary: Iu2019ve used a Canon 100mm macro lens and the Sony 50mm macro lens for many photos; this lens does not have the image quality of either of those two lenses. The borders are particularly soft on my NEX-7.
