Excerpt: This is a wonderful lens and the price is great. I am not a professional photographer by any stretch, however I am a jeweler and metalsmith and wanted good pics of my jewelry that I create. I love that I can get really close up pics that show great detail. For me, I was always trying to get the correct angle and lighting and just leaving the nex-5 in the auto position.
Excerpt: While you can use this lens as a 30mm walk-around lens, that's not its best use, as it's a bit soft, especially around the edges of an image. But as a macro lens, it's wonderful. It focuses close. Although it's billed as a 1: 1 macro, I've consistently been able to photograph at greater than life size. The outside of the lens is made of plastic (except for its camera mounts, which are metal), so treat it gently.
Pros: Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight
Good results are possible with this lens...but it is slow, short, and without OSS

Summary: First of all, I need to highlight that I am not a professional photographer but I consider myself a serious amateur. I own several APS-C E-mount lenses made by Sony and/or Zeiss and I use them on a NEX-6 and an a6000 bodies. If you are not willing to use an adapter, this is the only lens with macro capabilities that you can use on any APS-C camera such as the Nex and the a6000 at the time being.
Excerpt: The 30mm macro lens from Sony is an interesting lens, that takes a little bit of work to get the most out of. Overall it is very sharp but it it requires care and attention to detail when taking pictures because the depth of field can be quite narrow while at the same time very, very close to the subject. For macro work, I'm not sure you could do better for the price.
Summary: I was skeptical about this item. Having the lens in it's original box with the lens hood, front/rear cap and the rest of the accessories. I'm using everything that came with this kit. The bag is handy when packing multiple lenses in a bag to avoid scratching. The lenspen I have not used yet because I still have one that have some use left. The SD card, brand new in it's original packaging, quite nice.
