DP Review
30 September 2011
  • Summary: The NEX-5 is a dramatic and original approach to camera design, offering some of the best image quality its class in a tiny, sleek body. It's not perfect as a camera to just point-and-shoot but in the hands of someone willing to take a little control is capable of superb results.
  • Pros: Small, innovative designs that are still comfortable to hold, High resolution sensor with excellent High ISO performance (in PASM modes), Good JPEG output quality, Great build quality (particularly NEX-5), Metal barrelled lenses feel impressive compared to peers, Tiltable high-resolution screen, Point-and-shoot interface that provides optional control of aperture, Interesting extra features such as in-camera HDR and sweep panorama, Good, clear live view magnification ...
  • Cons: High ISO capability (a major advantage of its large sensor) unavailable in iAuto mode, Constant overexposure of images wastes highlight capabilities (and no exposure compensation to correct it in iAuto mode), Consumes battery quickly if you use the screen a lot between shots, Poor shot-to-shot times (if you want to see a post-shot review image), 'Bkground Defocus' feature can encourage the use of the wrong settings, Screw-on flash awkward to attach, Screen can be diff...

Sony SEL16F28 16mm f/2.8 Wide-Angle Lens

PC Magazine
23 September 2011
  • Excerpt: The SEL16F28 16mm f/2.8 Wide-Angle Lens ($249.99 direct) is currently the smallest lens available for Sony NEX cameras —its diameter is only 2.4 inches and its depth less than an inch. The 2.5-ounce prime lens offers a fixed field of view, equivalent to a 24mm lens on a full-frame D-SLR or 35mm film camera. Its fast f/2.8 aperture, coupled with the excellent high ISO capability found in the NEX camera series, makes it a great choice for low-light shooting.

Sony E 16mm f/2.8 (SEL-16F28) - Review / Re-Test

photozone.de
28 September 2011
  • Conclusion: The Sony E 16mm f/2.8 may be a controversial lens on lower resolution NEX cameras. However, it seems rather pointless to use it on the NEX 7 - 24 megapixel are way beyond the capabilities of this tiny lens. The center quality is certainly fine but the outer image region is extremely soft at max. aperture and just barely acceptable around f/8.

  • Excerpt: Originally posted 2010-09-22 on Optyczne.pl The youngest mirrorless system on the market – the Sony NEX- has only two lenses currently available for purchase, in its line-up. One of them is the Sony E 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS kit lens. Many people are also interested in the second option – the Sony E 16 mm f/2.8 “pancake”.
  • Cons: resolution by f/2.8 under the decency level,, average or weak resolution on the edge of the frame,, high lateral chromatic aberration in the whole aperture range,, noticeable vignetting in the whole aperture range.

Sony E 16mm f/2.8 (Sony NEX) - Review / Lens Test Report

photozone.de
12 September 2010
  • Conclusion: The Sony E 16mm f/2.8 is a controversial lens. Upon first contact you're probably positively surprised - it's stylish, dwarfish, very well built and the AF performance is also pretty good. It doesn't even cost a fortune. Unfortunately that's where most of the glory ends. The lens delivers very sharp images in the inner image field but the corner performance is rather poor especially at f/2.8 and f/4. The fairly heavy amount of lateral CAs isn't helpful here either.

Sony E 16mm f/2.8

swiatobrazu.pl
29 July 2013

  • Summary: Wnioski?
