Summary: Fantastic lens from Sony. This stops down to f/2.8 creating very creamy bokeh. I use this both on my Sony A33 and my Sony A99 (full frame) and get amazing pictures. Tack sharp focus. This lens is comparable to what you would see in a much more expensive model.
Best choice for a prime short telephoto for the A7r, for the time being...

Summary: OK, it is not as fast as I would like, but it is very light weight. This becomes more important because I have to combine it with and adapter to use on the A7r. I'm using the LAEA3 adapter, the one without the translucent mirror. The autofocus does work, though not very fast. Focus speed would be faster with LAEA4, but more weight, money and having to keep that mirror clean... I simply use it on manual focus most of the time.
Sharp, but lens mount is finicky. Not fit for a professional.

Summary: My copy had an issue with faulty connections. It was a solid performer but the plastic lens mount hardly instilled confidence. I returned it for a 105mm macro for 3x the price. If you're a professional and need reliability look elsewhere, but this would be a great performer for an amateur or enthusiast.
Summary: This year I bought a dslr-a850 in new condition for 850USD at a local store and since all I had before was a NEX-5 with some E-mount lenses, DT A-mount lenses and Legacy Lenses (Canon, Kiron, Vivitar, etc) decided to buy two fullframe lenses for less than 400USD. The first one was a Minolta AF 50mm f/1.7. Small, light, good quality (metal construction), second hand yes, but so far good enough for me (Less than 90 USD).
