Excerpt: I just had a baby boy in December and was taking a lot of photos using my Sigma 50mm macro lens, but he moved so fast, it was hard to get a clear shot. I found this one and it hasn't come off my camera since it was delivered. It is great for portriats.
Summary: Awesome lens. I have used it on alpha 37. Perfect for portrait and pretty good in the dark ambience. Just be careful being 55 mm can't get a wider coverage though! You may also wanna look for 1.8 in 35 mm for wider coverage but will lose a tiny bit of blurriness in d background!
Excerpt: I use this for photos and video. It has very smooth auto-focus and is generally pretty quiet. The photos are very sharp and look great. It is a great quality lens. The only thing I found wrong with it was that the mounting ring on the lens is not completely metal.
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh
Summary: I've been using this on my Sony A77 for a couple of months (almost 2 years) now. This is by far my favorite out of all my lens because with f/ 1.8 I can have a perfect blur on my subject. It's really great for portrait of people and animals and always you to get close without getting in their face.
