Good quality from Sony...AGAIN

Adorama
8 April 2014
  • Excerpt: Serious amatuer photographers on a budget will love this lens. Great photos are captured with its f/1.8 aperature. Great for cropped-sensor cameras, it takes stunning portraits, and its fixed focal length is a winner for those days when you need to carry light for your street photography outings. It boasts a super smooth (and quiet) autofocus. While it doesn't affect the performance of this lens whatsoever, it doesn't come with a lens hood.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Fixed Focal Length, Great portraits, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh, Quiet Smooth Autofocus
  • Cons: No lens hood

Good Lens for the price

Flyin7, B&H Photo
27 February 2014
  • Excerpt: Good lens for the price and produces good images. I use it mainly for doing portraits of my family. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the fact that the focus ring is not easy to find or use.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh
  • Cons: Hard To Use Manual Focus

  • Summary: This lens is a great pick for a beginning portrait lens. It is a decent price. The build could be improved, because it is noisy when focusing.

  • Excerpt: This lens has brought another dynamic to my photography. The aperture 1.8 can help set a mood and feeling a higher aperture just can not.

Very good lens.

  • Summary: Love the lens and love the quality of the pictures. I am no way a professional so I won't get into specifics other than I have gotten better pictures with this lens than with the stock on my Sony a65. I would give it a 4.5 if I could and I almost want to go for the 5 because my only complaint may very well be my mistake.
