Good value

Garfield, B&H Photo
22 October 2014
  • Excerpt: I bought this lens so I could get more depth-of-field over the 18-50mm lens that came with the camera, which was also only F5.6. It takes good low-light pics and does improve depth of field. Next purchase should be a 300mm telephoto.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight

  • Summary: Only get this is you can't afford something better. "Nifty 50s" as they're called are nigh unusable (excluding Nikon's model).

Great color and sharper images!

16 September 2014
  • Excerpt: I purchased this as my 2nd lens and it is wonderful! The picture quality is much more vivid and the f/1.8 allows my images to Pop! Usage is mainly for portraits and outdoor shots. It's a really good addition to your arsenal especially for the price. I gave it 4 stars only because of the plastic build. But other than that, this is a must have!
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Easily Interchangeable, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh
  • Cons: Slow Focus, Weak Casing

Light, sharp, bright & very inexpensive

Sam, B&H Photo
23 July 2014
  • Excerpt: I bought this lens for my Sony a65 so that I could take candid closeup shots of the actors at the local renaissance fair. On the a65 it makes for a powerful but compact 24 megapixel that will work well photographing people in motion in the shady light that covers much of the fair. Size-wise it fits very nicely on the smaller body of the a65, though I'll no doubt use it on my a77 as well eventually.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Low Price, Modern Design

New Favorite Lens!

Kimbodinii, B&H Photo
8 July 2014
  • Excerpt: This lens is awesome. I use it for pretty much everything now. It's fast, sharp and smooth. I'm not huge on the filters being 49 mm since most of the ones I have are 55 mm but it's no biggie. I was a little weary at first seeing how it was on the lower spectrum for prices, but I don't regret the purchase one bit! It does everything it says and more!
  • Pros: Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh
  • Cons: Filter Size

A great little lens

JCFrost2240, B&H Photo
7 July 2014
  • Excerpt: I use this lens when I want to take photos with a sharp debth-of-field for things like portraits. It does a pretty good job and I have been rather impressed with the clarity this lens provides. The auto-focus is a little noisy, but I can live with that. All in all, a GREAT value for your money.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Easily Interchangeable, Good depth of field, Sharp photos
  • Cons: A Little Noisy, made of plastic, Not rugged
