Great replacement

  • Excerpt: I've been shooting with an old Minolta Maxxum 50mm that finally died. Got this to replace it. Focus is quick and accurate, images are crisp, and minimum focus distance is notably better.

My new favorite lens

6 March 2015
  • Excerpt: I just had a baby boy in December and was taking a lot of photos using my Sigma 50mm macro lens, but he moved so fast, it was hard to get a clear shot. I found this one and it hasn't come off my camera since it was delivered. It is great for portriats.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh

Great Basic Lens

DM, Crutchfield
18 February 2015
  • Summary: This lens is great. The f1.8 aperture allows more light to enter allowing for slower shutter speeds and better lighting. The prime lens sometimes gets awkward when trying to take photos from an intermediate distance, but that is the trade off with a prime lens.
  • Pros: Great clarity. Better lighting.
  • Cons: Because it's a prime lens, it cannot zoom in or out. This isn't really a problem, just a consideration.

Buyer Beware

BleuH20, Amazon
16 February 2015
  • Summary: Biggest complaint: The flash in this kit is NOT compatible with Sony Alpha 65 camera. Not sure why it's offered in a kit with a Sony alpha lens (?). Small complaints: the lens cleaning kit is too large to fit easily in a regular sized camera bag. The diffuser is cheaply made, won't last long.
