DT 35 mm f/1.8 SAM

3 June 2011
  • Excerpt: Originally posted 2011-05-30 on Optyczne.pl A cheap standard lens is, by and large, a compulsory position in every reputable system. It was this way long time ago, when every analogue 35-mm camera owner could also buy a 50 mm lens with an aperture ranging from f/1.7 to f/2.0 and they didn’t have to pay an arm and a leg for it.
  • Cons: lens’s barrel and mount are made of plastics,, weak image quality on the edge of the frame near the maximum aperture,, average autofocus,, noticeable coma,, the highest vignetting in this class of equipment.

Sony 35mm f/1.8 DT SAM ( SAL-35F18 ) - Review / Test Report

31 March 2011
  • Conclusion: The Sony 35mm f/1.8 DT SAM may be a budget-oriented prime lens but regarding its performance it may even be a viable option for enthusiasts. Resolution-wise it delivers a very solid performance. A large center portion of the image field is very sharp at f/1.8 and f/2.2 - and this is where it counts at such a setting from a field perspective. The extreme corners are still good but not quite as impressive. Expect a rather soft contrast at max. aperture though.

1 November 2010
  • Summary: A new prime lens for general photography makes a welcome addition to Sony's 'Easy Choice' lens range. The DT 35mm f/1.8 SAM (SAL35F18) was one of three new lenses announced by Sony in July, 2010. Designed to provide an affordable, compact and lightweight prime lens with a popular focal length for both entry-level and advanced photographers it's less than one fifth of the price of Sony's other 35mm prime lens, the SAL35F14G, which retails for $2,699 and is the only in...
  • Pros: You want an affordable general-purpose prime lens for a Sony DSLR body., You'd like a lens that requires no readjustment when you fit polarisers and graduated filters., You require minimal distortion and vignetting Don't buy this lens if :, You prefer metal mounting plates., You require high resolution at the widest apertures.

Test av Sony DT 35mm F1.8 SAM

11 July 2014

Expert Review

30 May 2011
