Summary: Just got back from a vacation that included Yosemitie National Park and Sanfrancisco. Great Photos, and still learning how to take advantage of this great lens. Make sure your tripod can handle this glass lens.
Summary: I am using this with a amount to emount adaptor, so am relying on manual focus more than usual for me. The manual focus is excellent (not too loose) and the lens quality also excellent. Look for a refurb (I did). And note - there is a new version, marked with II.
Excerpt: it is fast to focus . im impressed with focus speed .in the day time. it dose not bounce around looking for focus. in low light it will hunt a little. when zoomed in on a spider and its web.but it will focus sharp on it with out tripod . it is not a low light lens .
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Nice Bokeh, Rugged, Strong Construction
Summary: This lens is really sharp. It's a little different from a lower end telephoto because you have to make some adjustments manually to start to get it into focus. But, once you are used to that, it's awesome in the clarity.
Excerpt: First of all this a very well made lens. It is part of Sony's "G" series and worth the extra price. Quality feel, quick focusing. It is very sharp and I've gotten some great pictures with it. But it is also surprisingly light weight.
