Excerpt: I love nature photography and this lens is a wonderful addition to my kit. The SSM technology is really great. I have the Sony a77ii with APS-C sensor, so I have a little longer reach when I am fully zoomed in to my subject. It's fantastic in good lighting conditions, but you do suffer from graininess when the light is not so good. After all, it is 4.5/5.6 aperture, but other than that it is a great lens for the price. It's light too.
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight, Strong Construction
Excerpt: Had to return due to a peace being loose. But I did get to take a couple pictures with it & they looked great. A little soft at full zoom & was a bit heaver them my Tamron 18-270. But over all could be a bit better for the price.
Excerpt: For the first two years of use, this was a great lens. Then, on vacation, or simply decided to stop autofocusing past about 20 feet. Other lenses work fine on my body do I know it's the lens. This is totally unacceptable for a lens with no scratches or damage. Never been dropped or banged around and get it just stopped working.Once, when trying to diagnose by swapping lenses, I got lots of motor squealing and other weird noises when planning this lens back on the...
Excerpt: it is fast to focus . im impressed with focus speed .in the day time. it dose not bounce around looking for focus. in low light it will hunt a little. when zoomed in on a spider and its web.but it will focus sharp on it with out tripod . it is not a low light lens . how ever if it is your only lens .doing a low light your iso will be extra high. and a slow shutter speed .best to use tripod in this case .back in the day time. your going to be very happy.
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Nice Bokeh, Rugged, Strong Construction
Summary: This lens is really sharp. It's a little different from a lower end telephoto because you have to make some adjustments manually to start to get it into focus. But, once you are used to that, it's awesome in the clarity. I just shot with it for two weeks in Yellowstone Park, and was able to get really super sharp shots of elk, buffalo, bears, rams, and landscapes.
Excerpt: First of all this a very well made lens. It is part of Sony's "G" series and worth the extra price. Quality feel, quick focusing. It is very sharp and I've gotten some great pictures with it. But it is also surprisingly light weight. So if you plan on hiking you won't mind bringing this lens with you.
