Excerpt: Very good quality but for a 2.8 lens, it's dark. I had 3 lights on a macro object and open at 2.8 but it just seem as if it was not getting any light.Compared to the 50mm and 100mm, this lens is just plain dark. Built quality is cheap as it is [*]. Also, it is 30mm so you really have to get close to the object to get a 1: 1 ratio.
Excerpt: Given its price I can't complain the DT 30mm 2.8 isn't one bit disappointing. its super light and can be put in your side pocket. I dont mind the plastic build quality as the IQ, Sharpness and quick focus is very good. Plus the focal length on APS-C turns 45mm which is great for an everyday lens. Bokeh may not be as smooth n creamy as the 50mm 1.8 but is descent. It doubles up as a macro too.
Pros: Consistent Output, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Lightweight
Summary: Although I did not buy this lens from Amazon, I did rely on Amazon reviews of this lens to make my decision. So as a way of saying thank you to Amazon, I am sharing my own review of this lens. Please be aware that this review is oriented mostly towards amateurs like myself because this is essentially an amateur lens. Here is what I liked about this lens: 1. Price: this lens is really cheap for a true macro lens that provides 1:1 magnification.
Summary: For macros, this lens provides great image quality. You do a lot of shots handheld, due to the very short 30mm length. However, this lens will mostly need to be used for stationary object macro shots, as the close distance will scare almost any living thing away. The SAM seems to work OK, but does not seem to be much faster than the original screw drive mechanism. Surely it will provide advantages with the new NEX line of cameras.
Pros: Very good image quality for macros and close shots
Summary: I wanted a macro lens for taking pictures of insects on my Sony Alpha A58 Translucent Mirror Interchangeable Lens Camera with 18-55mm Lens (20MP) without having to get too close. I knew it would not produce the fantastically sharp pictures that the professionals get with their £1000+ lenses, but to be honest it is a very good lens for the price.
Summary: What this review does not mention, is how much fun you can have with this lens!!!!!!! It's very small size and weight and very close focusing will have you in crevices tight spots and experimenting with perspectives you would find nearly impossible with any normal macro!!!! Add to this the pin sharp optics makes this an affordable toy.... I personally find that the ridiculously close focusing of 2 cms a hoot !!!!!!
Summary: Ein sehr leichtes Makro-Objektiv mit Kunststoffbajonett.
