WOW!

Rob, Amazon

  • Summary: I bought this lens for my recently purchased Sony Alpha SLT-A99V. What a perfect "walk around" lens for a full-frame camera! The lens is superb from 28mm to 75mm. I use a Carl Zeiss 16-80mm lens on my SLT-A77 so I thought I might be a little disappointed with anything less. The Sony 2875 lens has surpassed all of my expectations. The lens is a little heavy but I equate that with high quality.

Great lens, just pricey

  • Summary: A very quiet, well designed lens. It has become my go to lens for most applications. Great in low light and small spaces. The only drawback is the price...there are other lenses with similar features for much less. But if you are looking for a rugged, well made lens, this is the one!

This is a highly regarded lens by pros.

  • Excerpt: This lens was purchased with my A850 Full Frame Camera. I also use it with my A700. The fact that it was design for use with the A850 indicates that it is a good lens as the A850/A900 cameras require the best lenses. They use the full cone of light from the lens , whereas the APS-C cameras use the sweet spot only, and cut off the less sharp edges present in many lesser lenses.
  • Pros: Compact Design, Easy To Use, Fairly light to carry, Sharp at maximum aperture, Very good on A850 A700
  • Cons: Confusing Lens AF Switch

Should be in Sony's G-series

dekkam, B&H Photo
25 October 2011
  • Excerpt: This is a great lens: nice and sharp even at f/2.8, and providing a very useful range of focal lengths for my Sony a55, from 42 to 112.5mm equivalent -- and all at f/2.8. Great for portraits, small groups at parties, and even kids' sports from the sidelines. It's somewhat heavy, as you'd expect, but not uncomfortably so, and if you support the lens with your left hand as you shoot (which you always ought to do with a lens of any such size) it and the a55 make a very...
