Summary: I got this lens as a kit with an A700 in August, 2009. It was a used kit, which saved me a few bucks, and everything appeared perfectly new. I've taken this lens around the world (always taking it carry-on on aircraft), hiked with it, taken it on motorcycle trips in a holster and in a holster in a saddlebag. It's a very practical one-lens solution for trips; even when I've also brought a fast prime along, I've usually just used the 18-200 for almost everything.
Summary: I looked at this lens, but quickly realised that the Sony 18-250 is a superior solution. For only USD 50 extra you get a lense that: - Reaches 75mm further (using 35mm equivalents) - Was introduced to the market two years later.
Excerpt: Having tried the 18-70mm and 75-300mm lenses this should be an excellent compromise lens. However Compromise you will definetly do. I tried this lens from a friend and I can only say I was disappointed after the excellent 18-70 and 75-300mm lenses. The lens operates in the same way using a middle ring to zoom in and out and a front ring to focus manually. The lens focuses fast and reliably and with less noise than the other two lenses.
Summary: Ich wollte ein sog.
