Summary: I bought this for my a57 instead of the kit lens and I REALLY like it. Nice range of focal length, decent (not great, but decent) speed, focuses quickly and accurately, images are sharp, nice bokeh at the wide apertures. When I'm traveling light, this is the only lens I carry.
Summary: I bought this lens for my a65 Sony camera. I had previously used the stock 18-55 and 35mm + 50mm primes for this range (the primes are sweeeet!). A year earlier I splurged on a 70-300G lens, and was happy with the hefty lens and its 62mm filter size. The G lens was purchased to get rid of CA and purple fringing with the cheaper telephoto lens, and it worked. The 18-135 was purchased just 'cause I could, and I have been very happy.
Summary: Bought it used in Mint Condition for about half the price and must say I'm beyond pleased with this lens. Made in Japan (amazing optics) Very good focal length, SAM(Smooth Autofocus Motor) Very silent compared to my other lenses such as the 50mm f1.8 Metal Mount, rubber focus ring and zoom ring. I shoot professional and this lens with my a77 works amazing. The quality in the photos is astonishing. I would definitely recommend this lens. Worth ever penny!
Summary: This lens comes close to rating 5 stars for anything except professional landscape scenes on full frame cameras. I was lucky enoughto get a good used copy on Amazon. It's as sharp as the best of them in the center and along the sides (camera in landscape orientation) of the image. Only the corners are slightly soft if you "pixel peep" at 100% magnification, but in normal use this will never be noticed.
Summary: Sony lens is ok but, wanted something f2.8 my falt but here,s the not a happy camper, try to get the seller to talk to but no help there came in white box with little wrap.I would have paid more a lot more if sell would work with me didn,t happen. So guess what called one of the other dealers and got the sony 70-200mm f2.8 for a new one no tax no shipping for under 2000.00 with a nice sony case and thy gave free 77mm UV haze filter has well happy happy camper now but still...
Summary: BIG DISAPPOINTMENT-When will SONY and other manufacturers of cameras and lenses STOP RIPPING US OFF? This is a total disappointment and I would not recommend it to anyone interested in quality photography. The problem is that this lens from the range which I purchased it for does a horrible job. The range being from 18-35mmm. I found absolutely no difference in this lens than the 18-55mm kit lens which came with my Sony A57 camera.
Summary: This lens has become my best friend Awsome Awsome quality! If you are looking for something where zoom isn't so much you priority but just enough, and that does great portraits without switching lens constantly. This is the lens for you worth every penny.
Summary: Sometimes the ease of use and convenience beat the other drawbacks of a lens. With the 18-135, you get a reasonably good zoom range that makes it an ideal walk around lens. I use this lens in combination with my A57. The pictures are great so far, but they are not as sharp as I'd like them to be. The lens quality is nice and it doesn't feel cheap at all. Focus ring is smooth, but the zoom ring felt a little stiff to me while going from 18mm to a higher focal length.
Summary: I prefer to travel light and this fits the bill perfect. If the lens was any faster the weight would be to much for carry all day. I carry a lightweight monopod and can use with my a55 low shutter speeds. I do outdoor most of the time and hike or bike around its nice to carry. Its smooth and quick to focus. No technical analysis but my photos are sharp.
Summary: i bought this lens as an upgrade to the sony kit 18-55mm lens. i am pairing this lens with my sony a33 and a57 cameras. this is a new sony design, with quick and quiet autofocus. it's not as sharp as my prime lenses, but could be sharper of i didn't insist on shooting wide open. i haven't had the priviledge of using a ssm lens, but the focus on this lens is eerily silent, and doesn't leave me wishing for something quieter, even when shooting video.
