Excerpt: This is my go to lens. Sharp! Great lens Stays on my a77. Landscapes are beautiful, great with grand kids as can stay far enough back so they are natural. Color is superb! There is no purple fringing and distortion is non-existent when using Lightroom with this lens checked. I could not get a better lens with this focal range for the price!
Pros: Color, Consistent Output, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Nice Bokeh, Rugged
Summary: If your are seeking that extra fine definition in your personal photographs, that contrasts noticeably from other more pedestrian optics, the Zeiss offering for Sony cameras, may be your answer. As serious photographers, we look to utilize all the capabilities of our knowlege, and the cameras ability to deliver an outstanding image. But in the final anlysis, the factor that is constant for excellence, is the need for superiour optics.
Summary: Great quality lens. Works well with Sony 77 camera. Easy to operate. Great pictures. Was exactly what I was looking for. Worth the price. Works quietly. Carl Zeiss lens are the best quality out there.

Summary: For an amateur photographer, this is the lens that you want to put on your camera and leave it on... It comes with a lens hood, but you have to get a high end UV filter and you will fall in love with this lens. The photo quality of this lens meets up to Zeiss's legendary name, exceptionally crystal clear image quality and lovely Bokeh, the color saturation also far surpasses any kit lens.
Summary: I recently switched out my SAL-16105 for the Zeiss 1680Z, thinking that the upgraded optics and T coating would make up for the loss of range on the lens. I was pleased to find this to be the case. Though they are priced roughly the same, I believe the Zeiss lens to be sharper through its range, the bokeh to be smoother, and the results from shooting with it to be superior. The build is identical to the SAL-16105 - plastic body, rear zoom, 62mm barrel.
