Pros: Flexible general purpose range., High contrast and very sharp results., Relatively small and light., Squeezes best from the Alpha system.
Cons: Build quality not a big upgrade over kit lenses., AF noise and speed similar to kit lenses., Manual focus ring not very smooth., Macro no better than kit lens.

Cons: high vignetting at all focal lengths,, noisy autofocus.
Summary: For those who love to take sharp pictures with a zoom lens with a large zoom range, the Sony 16-80 mm is the right one. Too bad for the distortion at 16 mm.
Pros: Very high resolution/sharpness, Extremely little problems with flare
Cons: At 80 mm, the resolution at full aperture is less and the corners remain behind on the edges more., Visible distortion, in particular at 16 mm.
