Excerpt: I purchased this lens to extend the focal range of my Sony NEX-6 that I originally purchased with an 11-18 mm ultrawide angle lens. I tried out the lens under some of the worst conditions in an interior museum gallery with no windows and no supplemental lighting and no tripod. The lens was still able to autofocus even with an ISO setting of 12,800. The motorized zoom was virtually silent although a bit slower than I expected.
Pros: Durable, Easy To Use, Reliable, Smooth Motorized Zoom
Summary: I have the older silver version of this lens that came with my FS700. It had issues. No zoom motor. Jumping out of focus at the beginning of zooms. And, I know this sounds vein, but it looked cheesy. All that gone now with this new, awesome lens. Putting these E mount Sony lenses on the FS100 and 700 is the way to go. Auto exposure. Very good auto focus. And an image steady system that is simply amazing.
I thought it be a lot better considering it cost 1 grand...

Summary: I acquired this lens when I purchased the NEX-EA50UH camcorder for my wedding video side business. I've had a chance to play around with this lens for a couple of days now but I am already finding a coupe of things I don't like... So in this review I am going to say all the things I don't like. More than likely I will come back and update after I've done a couple of weddings. But don't get me wrong. This is still a decent lens but I expected more for 1000 dollars.
Excerpt: Use for commercials, documentary and interviews on my Sony FS-700. Sharp and great focal length range. Not very fast but great all in one. For low light situations I use an Metabones speed booster adapter with Nikon prime lens. All together a perfect kit that covers all my needs in terms of lens. Sharper and better color and geometrical corrected than expected.
Excerpt: I'm so sad that when I've got Sony FS-700 almost a year ago I was not able to get it with this lens, and take it with regular 18-200mm Kit Lens... I wish only about TWICE faster speed for fast zooming mode in this lens! Current "fast zooming mode" is not fast enough...
Summary: The stabilizing mechanism aids in even sharper pictures. I tried it against my other Leica Elmarit lenses using the same focal lens. Pictures are sharper when taken from the hand. Using a tripod is not always possible. Love it!
Summary: I purchased this lens for use with a Sony NEX VG900. It does what it is supposed to do, but I have noticed that it is a tad soft when compared to other E mount lenses. But it is featherlight given its range and internal motor. However, despite its beneficial features I find myself using other Full Frame lenses—via adapters—while the SELP-18200 remains in its shipping carton.
Excerpt: I have used this lens both for still and video NEX cameras. The most recent use was for July 4th fireworks photography. This is a high resolution lens, although the Sony manual zoom lens of the same focal length appears to have at least as high a resolution, and is less expensive. The lens appears to be made solidly. However, it is heavy compared to the NEX video camera bodies.
Pros: High resolution, Smooth And Silent Motor, Well Built Solid Feel
