Excerpt: I bought this to use on my A7 after seeing a few examples online taken with it so I figured it was worth trying out and I am glad I did. At 10mm and 16mm it is not usable unless you are in crop mode or crop the picture in post processing. At 12mm and 16mm there is a little vignetting but usable and in black in white or using editing software correctable. At 14mm there is no vignetting. I am happy with the color and sharpness at any range and especially sharp above f8.
Excerpt: Wanted to expand in to the wide angle I purchased this as a second lens for my a6000. Amazed every time at the field of view at the 10mm side. Amazing for landscape. Should be useful for close quarters images as well.
Summary: I've owned four of Sony's 'Nex' camera so far, the Nex-5n, the Nex-7, the Nex-6, and recently the ILCE-6000. I truly enjoy the smaller foot print, the live view on the LCD screen as well as the view finder, and the fact that I can nurture my toy addiction while working on my photography skills.
Excerpt: Ultra Wide and fisheye is where the mirrorless systems really shine - obviously it seems to be much easier (and cheaper) to build good wide angle lenses for shorter lens flange/sensor distance. The (in my view totally outstanding) Rokinon/Samyang 8/2.8 Fisheye for NEX and the excellent 10-18 Sony both prove it. Little to no CA issues, limited flare issues, sharp to the corners stopped down and a small, lightweigt package you can take everywhere.
Summary: This lens is somewhat pricey for an E mount type of camera, in fact it cost more than the NEX 5R that I own. One thing that you will notice is that your photos will be sharper with improved color and contrast over the standard lens that originally came with the camera. The field of view is also much wider and equal to 16mm on a full frame camera.
Excerpt: The lens is exceptional. Every day street lens plus beautiful landscapes. There is some lens curvature at 10MM, but without looking at a brick wall it will be hard to see. Easily taken care of in PS. You may find a better lens, at twice the price.
Summary: This lens is a must if you own a Sony FS100 or 700! Sharp as a tack. When I ride my camera on a big jib arm, I get the auto focus (with face detection if you want it) and auto exposure. No radio control focus / exposure control rings and rigs. And then when you go hand held, the image stabilizer is just the best. I've got a slew of Zeiss and Nikon lenses. I can't remember the last time I had them on my FS700.
Summary: The lens is great, providing all the wide angle you could ever use. I'm mostly a landscape photographer, so this is pretty much indispensable in the Nex system. Not completely sharp, but absolutely close enough, and with software you can take up the slack. Has stabilization, too, and the constant aperture and (mostly) absence of flare when shooting into the sun puts this a cut above most zooms.
